Feature Friday: Illustrations

Hang On For Deer Life

The Bee's Knees

Bright Eyed And Bushy Tailed

The deer is only half done but I quite like him that way and as I'm going to be scanning them in and adding text I may leave some half done, the bee turned out really well considering I did him first thing in the morning whilst still sleepy. The lemur is perhaps a little bit thin in the body but my tutor says it makes him look young which works well with the idiom it's representing.
Just a little notice that a lot of my feature friday posts will probably be my illustrations from now until May so I hope you like them.

Lush Addict: Bath Bombs

This is the last post from my Lush Addict series I hope you've enjoyed it.

BlackBerry bath bomb £2.90
I think this is a very underrated bomb as I absolutely love it, it smells lovely and fruity and turns the water a delightful purple colour and as it fizzes around a little bit of paper unfolds from the middle which has a lovely comic book like "boom" written on it.

Dragons egg £3.15/each
My all time favourite bath bomb, this one is amazing in every way. It smells sweet and sherbet like and looks great with little bits of pastel coloured confetti all over it and it gets even better when you get it in the tub the white layer foams and fizzes around the bath before the orange sherbet part fizzes loudly from the middle and as if it couldn't get any better when you reach the centre a big chunk of gold glitter spills out. So it's by far the most exciting of Lush's bath bombs and is great for a little pick me up if you've had a crappy day.

Space girl £1.95/each
Another sweetie smelling one, it smells kind of like Parma Violets if anyone can remember those, and as you can see it's very glittery which for me is always a bonus. I think this was the first bomb I ever tried and it's still a solid favourite especially as it's one of their cheaper bombs.

Think pink £2.45/each
As you can see this one of the more decorative bombs and the cuteness doesn't end with the outside as it fizzles away a flurry of tiny confetti hearts float around you, again this is a very sweet scent (think I'm seeing a pattern here). It is really small, but these ones make lovely little gifts for friends or as a little treat for yourself.

Twilight £3.15/each
This has a lovely lavender and caramel scent, which wouldn't normally appeal to me but this is lovely, beneath the starry pink surface lies a lovely blue centre, I think there's glitter in this one too but I haven't had one for quite a while so I can't remember exactly.

Fluffy Egg £2.95
My favourite product from the Easter range, it smells exactly like the Snow Fairy shower gel which I'm sure most of you will be familiar with and love. So I urge you to get yourselves to Lush and pick one of these up before they're gone as they are adorable and delightful smelling.

What's your favourite bath bomb?

Feature Friday: Girl Crushes Pt 2

So I posted part 1 of this quite a while ago now but I've finally got round to part 2.

Kaya Scodelario
My all time favourite Skins actress closely followed by the lovely Hannah Murray, I think she's absolutely gorgeous and a fellow Lush fan which is a bonus.

Amanda Seyfreid
She gives me some serious hair envy and face envy and pretty much everything envy, in interviews she always seems adorable, sincere and really funny. Also if you haven't watched Jennifer's Body, you should go watch it right now.

Emily Haines
She has the most amazing voice, I can literally listen to Metric for hours on end and not get sick of that voice their songs are absolutely perfect for driving through the countryside on a sunny spring day. Listen to her amazing voice here.

Outfit Post

Apologies for my chopped off head in the first picture but my hair was all wet and horrible and I may be a bit inebriated in the other two as I took them when I got home last night but just thought I'd do a little outfit post of my new top, I'm currently rather hungover and feel a cold coming on so I shall be having a much quieter evening tonight involving my sketchbook and a load of episodes of Pretty Little Liars.

Barry M in Black
Glitter nail pen from Ebay

They're a bit messy round the edges but I seem to be having an exceptionally clumsy week, even by my usually clumsy standard, so far this week I've already walked into a bollard (it was 9.30 am so I'll blame that one on sleepiness) and ran into a door handle and now have a bump on my arm, that one was more my own fault as Pete's house has doors leading through all the downstairs rooms so we may have been running around in a big circle like five year olds.
I tried to do similar nails on Saturday night with black and white polishes but I was nowhere near patient enough for them to dry and the result was a hideous mess but I think these ones turned out a little better.

Lush Addict: Bubble Bars

Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds
Blue skies and fluffy clouds £4.15/each
This is my all time favourite Lush product, I love everything about it from it's unusual smell to the adorable name. I know a lot of people prefer The Comforter for it's sweet scent but I much prefer this one and they are massive so a bar will last you at 4 or 5 baths (probably more but I tend to get carried away) and of all the bars I've tried I must say this creates the largest volume of bubbles.

Creamy candy £2.45/each
I tend to forget about this one quite often despite the fact it's one of their most reasonably priced bubble bars I suppose it's because it's not quite as strongly scented as most of the other bars and it's quite plain looking when surrounded by thier more decorative bars like Dorothy, but I recently received one as a gift and was reminded how great it is. If you love Lush's candy scents then this one is definitely for you as it smells absolutely delicious and it leaves your skin lovely and soft.

Karma £3.10/each
This one has a very definitive scent which you will either love like me or really hate, if you've tried their Karma soap then you'll obviously love this bar as the smell is exactly the same, it is very strong and will linger on your skin for quite awhile afterwards so you do really have to love it.

Pop in the bath £2.90/each
This one is so adorable and I love the fact they come in all different colours, this is probably my favourite design of all the bubble bars and they make lovely little gifts. The smell isn't too strong and is nice for a relaxing bath with a good book.
The Carrot £4.95/each
Having not loved any of the Bubble wands I didn't have particularly high hopes for this but I was intrigued to see what it smelt like and upon smelling it in the shop I just had to give it a try. I think this works a lot better than the wands and I find if you hold in under the tap when running your bath it makes loads of bubbles and doesn't break or split like my Magic Wand did. I've used it twice and there's still loads left so I think money wise it's also better than the wands, if they have these for half price after Easter I'll definitely be buying one or two more.

What's your favourite Bubble Bar?

Sunday Summary

Lots of Lush baths, Trying to do victory rolls for the first time, making my own Sex Bomb bath bomb at Lush and a very tasty chocolate duck that Pete brought me.

Where I've been- I've been out quite a lot this week which has been good for me but rather bad for my poor purse. I went to the cinema on Wednesday with my brother and a few of his friends which he kindly paid for, it was really nice to hang out with him as we very rarely go out together without the rest of the family. I also went shopping with my mom and we went to a Lush workshop and got to make and keep 2 Sex Bomb bath bombs which was a lot of fun. I had to go shopping with my brother to help him buy clothes and a mothers day present which was fun if a little stressful. I went out for dinner at The Gate last night for Pete's dad and his fiance's birthdays and had a very tasty but really big Mexican chicken enchilada and for dessert a rose wine and elderflower jelly. Today I went out for lunch with my family for mothers day and gave my mom her presents. I'm now I'm staying at Pete's so we can travel to uni together in the morning.
Music- I've listened to an excessive amount of Metric this week and am uber excited for the new album in a couple of months.
Currently lusting after- Shoes as it would appear all my shoes have decided to fall apart at the same time so I may have to pick my self up some creeper style flatforms soon or I may be walking around shoeless.
Mood- happy but disappointed in the lack of motivation I've had this week.
Product of the week- Soap & Glory Super Eyes eye gel, lack of sleep is giving me eye suitcases at the minute so I've introduced an eye cream into my skin care routine. I'm very glad I did, as this product is absolutely lovely, you only need a tiny bit and it has a lovely tingly cooling effect which leaves my skin looking and feeling refreshed.
Movie- I went to see Wanderlust with my brother and it was hilarious although this is largely due to the awesome Paul Rudd as the plot itself is somewhat predictable and a bit crappy. I also watched The Last House On The Left which, for a remake, was actually ok although I find it a bit odd that the lead actress was the star of Aquamarine before this, how do you go from a happy child friendly mermaid to being tortured in the woods.
Eating- Lots of tasty but really unhealthy food including a delicious Chinese takeaway this evening.
Drinking- We finished our lovely meal at The Gate with shots of Sambuca which seemed a little odd for a family meal but I do enjoy the odd Sambuca. I've been drinking port and wine today which has been nice.
Wishing- I had more patience and could concentrate on the important things I need to do.
Looking forward to- Next week should be a lot quieter than this one so I'm looking forward to lots of drawing sessions in my jammies.
Highlight- This whole week has been really great but the Lush bath bomb making session was so much fun so that was probably my highlight.
Goal for next week- Work. Work. Work.
Blog of the week- will be added later

Saturday Bargains

Batiste Dry Shampoo- £2.99
Radox- £2.05
Body Shop Chocomania mini body butter- £5.00
River Island top- £15
Lush Karma- £3.10
Lush Blue Skies- £4.15
Lush Fluffy Egg- £2.95
Primark Sunglasses- £2.00
Piranha- £2.50
Garnier Hairspray- £2.69
Soap & Glory minis £2.50 each
Pound Shop Plastic Trays- £1 each

I've been shopping twice this week which I didn't mean to do but I went with my mom on Thursday and then again with my brother yesterday, but I tried not to buy anything too extravagant.
I've been searching for the new Cherry scented Batiste and finally managed to find some in Boots where I also picked up the Radox which was on buy one get one free so I brought one for my Nan for mothers day and got myself one free, I also had to get my mom something from Soap & Glory and as they're still on 3 for 2 I couldn't help picking up two minis for just £2.50.
I love the new Chocomania collection in the Body Shop it smells sooooooo good but as I still have a lot of my Strawberry one left I thought I'd be sensible and just get a little one.
I went to a Lush Bath Bomb making workshop where I got to make and keep two Sex Bomb bath bombs for free but I couldn't resist stocking up on some faves whilst I was there.
The River Island top was reduced from £25 and it's not the kind of thing I usually go for but I really liked the pattern and it's quite long in the back so it can be worn with some nice black leggings in the spring.
You can't go wrong with Primark sunglasses as they're cheap as chips and I wanted to some cat eye ones so these were ideal, I indulged my trashy movie addiction and brought Piranha as it's just pure awesome.
Lastly I found these plastic trays in a pound shop, I'm going to use the small one for all the drawing stuff I keep by my computer and the bigger one to store make up in to tidy up my dressing table a bit.

Lush Addict: Products That Disappoint

So let me just start by saying that there's nothing particularly wrong with these products they just don't live up to my high Lush expectations, so please don't be put off just because I don't like them.

Big Blue £3.10/each
I initially kinda hated the scent of this but it grew on me so I decided to try it as I pretty much want to try all the bath bombs Lush have to offer at some point. It is really big so I used it twice and it smells a whole lot nicer in the bath than it does in the shop but my main issue with this is the amount of stuff that comes out of it. It's filled with little bits of seaweed which are pleasant enough to give an oceany feel to the bath but there is literally loads and bear in mind I only used half in a bath and it covered the bottom of the bath, I had to scoop a lot of it out because there's no way it would have all go down the plug hole. So if you've tried Tisty Tosty or any of the other bombs with Rose petals and buds in and have been irritated by the amount of stuff accompanying you in the tub I really wouldn't recommend this.

Butterball £2.40/each
I've heard a lot of great reviews about this but it just wasn't great for me, I got it in a gift box and tried it straight away as it's not one that's ever caught my eye before, the smell is quite pleasant and fairly faint for a Lush product so if you're not keen on their more agressively fragrant products this could be one for you. I put in the bath and it fizzed around rather pleasantly but it left little pockets of brownish oily butter floating around which clung to the sides of the bath and on my skin, I'm assuming this is supposed to moisturise and soften your skin but it just looked horrible and made my skin feel greasy.

Lush Bubble wands £4.95
I want to love the wands I really do and I got two of the Magic wands at Christmas which looked adorable and smelt lovely like candy but once the novelty wears off and you actually come to use the wands they can be such a pain. You're supposed to wave them around in the bath but I've read a lot of reviews and comments on the lush site complaining that they break and split on first use which is due to the fact the product is simply to heavy for the really thin wand it sits on. Knowing this when I used mine I held it on the product end but it takes an awful lot of waving around to get my required level of bubbliness, I've found it's a whole lot easier to hold it under the tap as you run your bath which creates a much more satisfying bubble to water ratio. I was willing to give them another go when they brought out their Mothers Day flower versions but none of the scents really stood out to me so I gave them a miss, The Carrot that they've brought out for Easter isn't on a wand but it has "leaves" to hold on to instead which seem to give the product much more resistance against splitting and breaking and it smells quite different to most other Lush scents so I'd recommend this one. Overall it's a nice idea and you get quite a few baths out of each wand but the nearly £5 price tag seems a little steep and you're pretty much paying for the novelty, I much prefer their normal bubble bars.

Green Bubbleroon £3.25/each
The bubble bars are my favourite Lush products so I was really excited about the prospect of the three new "bubbleroons" but I was quite disappointed at how small they are considering they aren't any cheaper than the bigger bubble bars they already sold. The scents were also a bit disappointing, there's nothing wrong with them they just don't have the wow factor that the other bars seem to have, I tried the green one and and it was nice enough but it just didn't make enough of an impression to see me buying more of them. If you fancy trying these I'd say the Rose Jam one is probably the best of the three and really smells like jam but for the price there are much better bars for your money.

Which Lush products haven't lived up to your expectations?

Beauty Buys

Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day™ Conditioner £5.50
Soap & Glory Calm One™ Calm All Bubble Bath £5.50

Soap & Glory Scrub, Actually™ Body Scrub £7.00
MUA Lipstick I believe it's shade 7 £1.00
Soap & Glory™ Sugar Crush™ Body Scrub £8.00

Soap & Glory™ Supereyes Supereyes™ Moisturising Eye Gel £9.00

Lush The Carrot £4.95

Simple Face Wipes buy one get one free £2.99
Top Shop Ear Cuff £6.50
H&M Starfish Ring £1.99

Company £2.00
Hotel Chocolat White Chocolate Tiddly Pot £1.95

So I've been shopping a few times over the past couple of weeks so thought I'd do a collective haul to show you what I've been spending my pennies on.
I've brought quite a lot of Soap & Glory stuff as it's quickly becoming my new obsession and it's currently on 3 for 2 in Boots, my Brother asked me to get his friend a birthday present cos he's a bit clueless in the gift giving department so I brought the Soaper Hereos gift set and picked up a couple of things for me meaning I brought the Conditioner and Bubble Bath for just £5.50.
I love the MUA Lipstick I think I may have found my perfect shade and I love the fact they're decent products for really cheap prices and whilst I was in Superdrug I noticed my favourite face wipes were buy one get one free for just £2.99 so thought I'd stock up while they're on offer as they're £3.99 each in my local supermarket.
I also couldn't resist Lush's Easter range although I was in way remotely tempted by The Immaculate Eggception Bath bomb which in my eyes is no where near big enough to justify it's £7.00 price tag.
I've been looking at the Ear cuffs in Topshop for a good while now and finally caved and brought this one although I can only wear it on one ear as my other ear isn't thick enough to hold it on, which is a bit odd and I couldn't resist the adorable starfish ring especially for just £1.99.
If you haven't tried the Tiddly Pots before I highly urge you to they are so incredibly delicious, I'm more than a little excited about their Easter Eggs as they are pretty much the best chocolate I've ever tasted, I won't be forking out £8 for an egg though as that is a tad excessive for something I will probably devour in 10 minutes. Me and Pete always go their a few days after Easter when the Easter stuff is half price or less and get each other an egg or two, last year he got me the praline Easter slab which is basically an egg surrounded by a slab of chocolate and trust me words cannot describe the deliciousness.

If you would like me to do a review on anything just ask in a comment
