NOTD: Spooky Webs

I decided to take off my beloved Friday 13th design as I didn't think it was really suitable for work (I work in the kids section of Debenhams) and go for a more subtle Halloween design so I made an attempt at spiderwebs, they aren't quite as clear as I would have liked but I was pretty tired when I did them. I painted on a couple of coats of Barry M- Grey and then applied a coat of Barry M- Silvery Lilac as the grey looked a little dark and dull and I wanted to make the webs stand out. I created the web design using my Models Own nail art pen in Black and found it a little more fiddly than I had anticipated but overall I think they resemble webs.

Happy Halloween my lovelies...

...from me, Chucky and Gloomy Bear, we plan on spending the evening continuing my horror movie marathon (you can see my movie choices here) and pigging out on all the goodies from my Cybercandy package which turned up yesterday (I'll be posting the contents of the glorious parcel in the next few days).
I hope you all have a lovely evening whatever you do.

NOTD: His Name Is Jason

So as it's Halloween this week and I've been watching all my favourite scary movies I thought I'd do a Halloween themed NOTD so I went for a Friday 13th themed design partly because the movie is awesome and partly because I've been meaning to try out this splattered effect for a little while.

I painted all my nails with two coats of Barry M- White, at first I tried Nails Inc- Beach for the blood splatters but it was a bit too bright so I mixed it with Nails Inc- Tate to make it a darker blood red. To create the splatters I used a straw, dipping it in the varnish and then blowing at my nails, it was pretty much a case of trial and error as a lot of the time when I blew the varnish wouldn't leave the end of the straw but I did quite enjoy the messy hap hazard method although I foolishly decided not to apply tape around my fingers and so ended up in quite a mess.
To create Jason's hockey mask I used a cocktail stick dipped in Nails Inc- Beach and my Models Own Nail Art Pen in Black, as you can see below the left hand turned out quite well but the right Jason mask looks a little melted but the splatters turned out well on both hands so I thought I'd include pictures of both. Unfortunately when I applied a clear top coat over the splatters it did leave a pinkish tone to the white which is a bit annoying but it does make the Jason mask stand out more.
I'll definitely be trying the splatter method again with other colours, and I'll make sure I tape up my fingers to make less of a mess.

Product Review: Lush The Enchanter Bath Ballistic

The Enchanter Bath Ballistic is part of Lush's small collection of Halloween and Day Of  The Dead themed products that are only around for a very limited time. Along with The Enchanter they are also selling Twilight Shower Gel which is a purple glittery shower gel scented with lavender and a Day Of The Dead themed Shower Jelly called Calacas (which I also bought) which is molded in the shape of a sugar skull and is scented with lime.

As soon as I saw this bath ballistic I wanted to try it and when I smelt it in store I absolutely had to get one, the scent is very citrusy and fresh which set it apart from the rest of Lush's sweet or musky seasonal products.
When placed in the water it fizzes away for quite awhile before reaching the centre which is a lovely vibrant pink turning the water from a pale yellow to a bright orange, I found that half the bomb was more than enough to make the water a delightful colour and create a lovely citrus like smell, so I got two baths out of the bomb which I think justifies it's £3.20 price tag.

The smell was really strong and lingered nicely on my skin afterwards, I'm a little sad that this is a limited edition as I absolutely love it so I'm hopefully going to get a couple more this week before they disappear.

Product Of The Week- Models Own Snowflake nail varnish, it is soooo pretty and goes well over any colour.

Feature Friday- October Empties

As you can see I've finished off quite a few things this month some of which have been on the go for months, so here are my empties and mini reviews:

Mini Benefit Porefessional-
So as I'm sure you all remember a few months ago Glamour magazine came with Benefit freebies and as the Porefessional was one of them I ended up getting a couple and I've just used up the first mini (and my full size is almost out too : [ ), I did a review of the Porefessional here. (Please excuse the fact the pictures are missing it would appear that nearly all of my photos past august have disappeared which is really irritating but I will endeavor to restore them asap)
Would I buy again: I still have a full mini version and a bit left in my full size but I will repurchase this after they're gone as it is my absolute favourite primer.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation-
This is my all time favourite foundation and it's the perfect shade for my skin, I apply it using my Models Own foundation brush and it gives really even coverage, also it lasts months making it well worth its nearly £10 price tag. You can see me wearing this foundation in this FOTD.
Would I buy again: Yep I've already started using my second tube.

Ted Baker Bodywear Bodyspray-
So I got this a couple of Christmas's ago and it's been floating around in my make-up storage taking up space so I decided to use it up so I can start using my Soap & Glory body spray again. It smelt quite nice but I'm not sure it's something I'd pick out myself, I did a little review of this here.
Would I buy again: No and I'm not even sure they make it anymore.

Lush Tea Tree Toner Water-
I've tried quite a few toners this year looking for the perfect one to suit my oily/combination skin and this ticks all the boxes, it smells great and leaves my skin feeling really soft and clean ready for my moisturiser and it's pretty reasonably priced at just £3.95.
Would I buy again: I've already repurchased it and it's become a permanent fixture of my skincare routine.

Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara-
I bought this ages (I think the packaging might be different now) and only started using it when I ran out of my favourite mascara, I would categorize this as ok, it gives good coverage but is quite clumpy so I have to use an old (clean) mascara brush to separate the lashes whilst the mascara's still wet.
Would I buy again: No I don't think so as I prefer my Bourjois one.

Lush The Comforter Bubble Bar and Lush Blue Skies And Fluffy Clouds Bubble Bar-
I cannot bare to be without a Lush Bubble Bar of some sort and these along with Karma are my absolute favourites, they are a little pricey at £4.25 each but I usually get about 6 baths per bar so I don't think they're too bad. You can read my full reviews of both of these here.
Would I buy again: Always, I've already replaced The Comforter.

Balance Me Balancing Face Moisturiser-
Again this was a magazine freebie and I actually wanted the eye cream but as I couldn't find one I settled for this and I actually loved it, it has quite a strong scent but I didn't mind that too much and my skin loves it, it soaks in instantly and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy like most moisturisers do.
Would I buy again: I definitely want to buy a full size version at some point but I have a couple of other moisturisers I want to try out first.

Soap & Glory Supereyes Moisturising Eye Gel-
When I first got this I thought it was great but I've slowly fallen out of love with it (you can read my initial review of it here), when I first started using it it would tingle slightly as I applied it but slowly this has turned into more of an unpleasant stinging sensation so I'm glad I've finally finished it off and towards the end it appeared to have absolutely no noticeable effect on the skin around my eyes.
Would I buy again: Definitely not and if anyone can recommend to me a good eye cream for under a tenner I would be most grateful.

17 PhotoFlawless Primer-
I do really love this and have mentioned it on here a few times so I won't repeat myself but you can read my review of it here.
Would I buy again: As much as I love this I'm not sure I'll be repurchasing this time as it just doesn't last long enough and although it's not too pricey (£4.99) I'm just fed up of having to repurchase so often, I would prefer to spend a bit more on something a bit bigger that will last longer

NOTD- Snowflakes At Night

I used:
Barry M- black
Models Own- Snowflake
Models Own Snowflake is possibly the prettiest nail varnish I own and I couldn't wait to try it out, I did read a few reviews mentioning that the glitter is quite sparse so I decided to try it over black to really let the sparkly flakes stand out. I was personally pretty pleased with how the well glitter distributed, you will find that there can be a few empty gaps but it's easy enough to splodge a little glitter on the sparse areas, to get the above coverage I used 2-3 coats.
The colour of the flakes looks a creamy white in the bottle but on the nails it has yellowy green tones when you look at it directly and beautiful blue tones when you look at it at an angle. I did find that in places some of the bigger flakes didn't lie flat enough so it took a couple of coats of clear polish to make sure the flakes lay flat to nail and to prevent them peeling off.
I absolutely love how they've turned out and can't wait to try Snowflake over different colours, I'm also very tempted to buy Jack Frost the other white/translucent glitter in the Wonderland collection as it looks equally as gorgeous.

Product Review: Lush So White Bath Ballistic

 So White- £3.20
As I mentioned in my Lush Christmas Splurge post I wasn't too fussed by this last year as it was one of the more dull products in the Christmas range but this year it's returned bigger and with a much stronger scent. As you may have guessed by the name the scent of this ballistic is mainly apple so it's very fresh and quite sweet and the smell lingers quite well (lasts years seemed to disappear once dissolved).

I normally like to get two uses of the bigger bombs like this, partially because I want to make the most of the lovely smells and partially because £3.20 is little much for a single bath in my books, but I ended up using the whole thing because to be honest half the bomb didn't do a whole lot. After reading on the Lush site that this had been reinvented to include a pink heart of bubble mix and the idea is to throw the bomb against the side of the bath to shatter the outer shell and release the pink core I had expected the white part to be quite thin so I was a little disappointed at the fairly small amount of pink stuff in the middle but maybe I chose a naff one.
The small amount of pink "bubble mix" did fizzle out rather vibrantly once it had dissolved to the center (I went against throwing it at my tub) but it made absolutely no difference to the colour of the water which again I found a little disappointing. The little pink stuff floated around and I scooped a bit out and it definitely felt like a creamy bubble bar consistency and I found that it softened the water and also left my skin feeling quite smooth.
I added a bit more water to see if it would create any bubbles and it did make a nice soft frothy layer on top of the water but unfortunately it didn't last very long, the scent however lasted well after I'd left the tub and it is a gorgeous scent which is quite comforting on an Autumn night.
Overall the scent is fab and if you're not after anything bright, colourful or glittery you'll probably quite like this but for me it's just not exciting enough to consider forking out another £3.20 for one, especially when I can get the much more exciting Golden Wonder for the just 5p more.

Where I've Been- I've had a fairly quiet week ready to start my job at Debenhams on Tuesday, Pete and I went to the cinema on Wednesday and on Thursday I went to a funeral which obviously was a sad day. Last night I went for drinks with Beth and ended up having one too many (I never learn) but it was great to catch up as we haven't had chance to go out a lot since she started her new job, I've spent my Sunday in my pjs feeling quite worse for wear so I'll be having a quiet night in watching Homeland.
Watching- I saw Frankenweenie on Wednesday and absolutely loved it I will definitely be getting it when it's out on DVD. I've also been watching quite a bit of tv recently especially Homeland and Me And Mrs Jones.
Product Of The Week- I haven't used anything this week that's really stood out so I'll go with a product range instead and I have been pretty obsessed with the Lush Christmas range this week and am really looking forward to trying everything out and writing some reviews.
Next Week- I haven't seen Pete at all this weekend which has really sucked but I'm staying at his tomorrow night which I'm really looking forward to as I need a Pete cuddle, I have my induction at work on Tuesday and I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait to get started and hopefully I'll find out when I'll be working. I think a pub trip is being planned for Friday although the thought of drinking is quite off putting today so I may stay sober for a change.
