Feature Friday: Products Of The Month

Vera Wang Princess-
The gorgeous bottle and sweet fragrance make this pretty much perfect in my opinion.

Benefit She's So Jetset
I got this for christmas and it is an ideal little set as it contains a nice range of essential make-up items; a lipgloss, They're Real mascara, The Porefessional and a range of neutral velvet eyeshadows. I've been using the eyeshadows from the set a lot this month which is the main reason it's in my favourites post, Benefit's eyeshadows are really long lasting and well pigmented.

The Body Shop Body Butter Duo Floral Acai-
I have expressed my love for The Body Shop Body Butters before but I've been loving this Body Butter Duo which contains both a body butter on one side and a body lotion on the other so you can use the butter on most areas and the lotion on more dry areas so for me I like to use the lotion on my upper arms. The smell of this is absolutely gorgeous too, a lovely mix of flowers and acai berry which as with all the body butters the scent is really strong and well lasting.

Percy & Reed No Oil Oil-
I did a full review of this recently so I won't repeat myself but you can read my full review here.

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub-
I have had the Bubblegum lip scrub for absolutely ages but hardly ever use it as it's never overly impressed me, but I got the Popcorn one for Christmas and have found it much more impressive the smell/taste is lovely and not quite as sickeningly sweet as the Bubblegum version. The scrub itself works really well, it contains lots of oil which leaves my lips exfoliated but not dried out.

Lush Iced Wine Shower Jelly-
This is a limited edition retro product that was only available online throughout December, I've only just started using it but I love it, it is slightly firmer than all the other shower jellies I've tried making it easier to use and I think it will last a bit better too as it isn't falling apart yet. The smell is gorgeous the main smells are ice wine which is a very sweet wine and grapefruit, which together make an interesting sweet fruity scent that's also quite sharp/sour. This was £4.95 which is a little more expensive than the usual shower jellies but I'd definitely buy it again.

Review: Lush Henata Bath Ballistic

This slightly odd hen shaped bath bomb is another one of Lush's Easter products, the idea with this is that it's like a bath bomb pinata it's very brightly coloured and has even more brightly coloured goodies waiting inside.
The smell is lovely and is really quite similar to the Easter Bubble Bar The Brightside, with a big helping of tangerine oil which makes this very cirtusy and fresh but this also has slightly floral tones and the smell is a lot stronger and longer lasting compared to The Brightside.

Once I reached the middle of the Henata loads of pretty flowers and petals burst out and floated around and a little green egg came out and fizzed about slowly, there was also another blue egg hidden in the hens chest.
This was pretty expensive at £4.50 which is a lot for a bath bomb but it is massive and is designed for more than one use, you're actually supposed to smash this in half to add to the pinata element but I thought this might make a big mess so I just held it in the water until half of it had dissolved.
Overall I did like this a lot but I wouldn't buy another as for the price I'd much prefer to buy a bubble bar.

NOTD: Purple Glaze

Nail Polsih Used:
Bourjois 1 Second Nail Polish- Clear
Models Own- Purple Pearl
Max Factor Mini Nail Polish- Fantasy Fire
H&M Nail Polish- Purple Glaze

These pictures really don't show off how pretty the H&M Purple Glaze polish is, it's a beautiful glitter containing mostly purple and silver bits of glitter with a few bits of blue glitter and little holographic strips.
I layered it over Models Own Purple Pearl and a coat of Fantasy Fire to add extra shimmer, I used quite a few layers and built it up to towards the edge of the nail ombre style so that the prettiness of the Fantasy Fire was still visible.

Review: Lush The Brightside

I was very excited to use this as it looks very similar to my other favourite bubble bars; Blue Skies, The Comforter and Karma, as soon as I opened my parcel I was hit by the wonderful scent of this bar. Lush describe the scent as Triple Orange and it is packed with tangerine oil which makes the scent very strong and citrusy, however the scent wasn't quite as strong as I imagined it would be once I'd crumbled the bar into the water and I was a bit disappointed at how the scent weakened throughout my bath although it was still very noticeable but just not quite as strong as I usually expect from Lush.
It created loads of fluffy bubbles, for the amount showed below I used just under a quarter of the bar which I thought was quite impressive and as with all Lush bubble bars the bubbles lasted ages.
If I wasn't on my spending ban I would definitely have bought a couple more of these before they disappear but I'm really trying to stick to it so I just hope this returns next Easter.

100 Day No Spending Update Week 3

Today is day 23 of my spending ban and time for my weekly update and I've been trying really hard not to break my ban this week, I even managed to make a little trip to Boots for some holiday things without spending any money. I've been saving up my Boots advantage card points for ages and was hoping to use them on a little Origins or Benefit treat but I needed some shampoo and conditioner so rather than break my ban I used half of my Boots points to get some new Aussie goodies and they were on offer for 3 for 2 meaning I saved myself about £13.00, I bought the Miracle Shine Conditioner as I've been loving the shampoo and the Luscious Long Shampoo and Luscious Long Conditioner as I want to grow my hair really long again. I did break the rules slightly by buying a magazine but the Company High Street Edit was out this week and as it only comes out twice a year I didn't feel overly guilty about it, other than that my ban has been going well.

NOTD: Over The Top

Nail varnish used:
Models Own- Top Turquoise
H&M Polish- Confetti Time
Barry M- Ruby

Models Own Top Turquoise is by far one of my favourite nail varnish's and I thought it would go well with Barry M's Ruby which I'd never used before, Ruby is beautiful glitter polish consisting of big pink bits of glitter mixed with various sized black glitters. I also added a couple of coats of this H&M Confetti nail varnish as I felt like having super glittery nails and Ruby honestly doesn't give the best coverage and the result was a lovely over the top glitter fest which I love but am dreading trying to get it off.

March Wishlist

march wishlist

As you can see this months wishlist is pretty hefty, I blame my spending ban not going to any shops has had me bookmarking things online even more than usual I'm also making a seperate wishlist for a load of films I've been wanting to buy/watch so that will probably be posted soon.

  1. I just can't resist a bit of tie-dye and this pale blue is gorgeous and would be perfect for a basic spring t-shirt, it's only £7.99 and if I wasn't on my ban I would already have bought it.
  2. I haven't used a backpack for years but I would use this one to death, it is just perfect and I don't think £28.00 is too bad.
  3. I don't think I'd pay £10.00 for these but I do love them and I'd wear them all summer with my collection of super tacky sunglasses.
  4. This is just too pretty I've been lusting over a bag like this for months and it's only £22.00, if I wasn't on my ban this would definitely be a payday purchase.
  5. I think my wardrobe could really use a long blazer like this and the blue grey colour is gorgeous.
  6. Vivienne Westwood and skeletons, what's not to like? well maybe the price tag £125.00 is perhaps more than I would want to spend on earrings.
  7. Again if I wasn't on my ban I would already have bought this by now it's a steal at £5.99 and I do love a chunky ring.
  8. I am in love with this t-shirt I need it to be mine I've never bought anything from Drop Dead but I am seriously considering adding it to my little after ban shopping list.
  9. This is a beautiful holographic nail varnish that is basically a blue version of the Winterfrost varnish in my last NOTD and it is so pretty.
  10. I have been lusting after the Urban Decay Naked palette for ages so it was about time it featured on a wishlist.
  11. And finally another stripey monochrome bag but this time a satchel and a beautiful chunky satchel at that but I think I'd use the backpack slightly more.

Sunday Summary

Dinner date with my Beth, Movie day, Colourful fishtail, Finally graduated from uni, Celebration lunch at Rossopomodoro, Ed's Oreo cookie milkshake, Last nights outfit.

This week has been pretty great, I went out for dinner with Beth on Wednesday and we had a good long catch-up and shared a bottle of wine, I spent Thursday having a pj day and watching dvds. On Friday I finally had my graduation which I really enjoyed despite having to get up at 5.45 to get there for half 8, we went out for lunch afterwards at Rossopomodoro which was delicious as usual.
I went to a birthday party last night and consumed way too much wine which resulted in me getting in a bit of a state.
I'm looking forward to this week as I have fairly short shifts although I do have a couple of delivery shifts meaning I have to be at work for 7am, but I'm going to the theatre on Wednesday which I am very much looking forward to.

100 Day No Spending Challenge: Update Week 2

I've found this week a lot easier than the first, my brother asked me to help him buy a present for a friends birthday so we picked up some Soap & Glory goodies and as Boots are still having their 3 for 2 offer across skincare and bath products he let me pick a little something as one of the freebies so I got a mini Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Water Spray which I'm looking forward to trying.
The only thing I actually bought this week was Company magazine which is allowed in my rules and one Subway as I had a last minute change to my shift and ended up with a longer shift than I was supposed to have.
I can't lie there are a lot of things that have caught my eye this week and as I was in Birmingham yesterday I was surrounded by temptations especially when I made a quick visit to Urban Outfittiers but I managed to resist, I was going to post a wishlist yesterday but I ran out of time so I'm hoping to get it posted today.

You can read update 1 here.

Review: Percy & Reed Volumising No Oil Oil For Fine Hair

So as you may be aware Glamour Magazine comes with free Percy & Reed goodies this month, I have to say I wasn't particularly excited as they have given away Percy & Reed products before and I tried the conditioner and found it very disappointing. This time around there is a choice of a shampoo, conditioner, hair oil or finishing polish, I went for the hair oil as it was the only product that I actually wanted to try, I have so far not succumbed to the hype surrounding hair oils like the infamous Moroccanoil and have never been tempting to try any as I feared they may just make my hair look greasy and weighed down.
I was looking forward to trying this because it is a no oil hair oil so I thought it may be more suited to my hair than most other oils on the market and I was right my hair is absolutely loving it.
First off the smell is gorgeous, as I've said many times I suck at describing scents so I put it to my mom and she described it as a sweet mix of blackcurrant and apples, it's a very light scent that lingers nicely on the hair. I use 2 or 3 drops applying it to the lengths of my hair once it's towel dry, which results in my hair being left smooth and incredibly soft, it also reduces the frizziness my hair has been suffering from recently. This is labeled as a volumising oil and I did notice that with along with a bit of my Lush Salt Spray my hair dries in nice beachy waves and looks a bit more bouncy than usual but I wouldn't say it did anything too amazing in terms of volume.
As I'm currently on my spending ban I won't be purchasing this anytime soon but if the little freebie lasts as well as I think it will I would seriously consider buying the full size once my ban is over and I don't think £14.00 is too bad a price for the amount you get.

Did you try any of the Percy & Reed freebies with this months Glamour?

Review: Lush Salt Spray

I bought this a little while ago and have been using it a lot recently, it smells really lovely and fresh as it contains grapefruit oil, rosewood oil and neroli oil it is by far the best smelling salt spray I've tried so far.
You're actually supposed to spray this onto styled hair to fix the style and boost volume but I like to spray this onto my hair after it's just been washed and is about 60% dry, I scrunch it into the lengths of my hair to encourage my hairs natural waviness and my hair always dries into nice messy waves that last all day.
As this does contain a light gel it really works to keep your style locked in and the Lush Salt Spray has the best lasting power of any salt spray I've tried, however I have found if you spray a little too much it can leave  your hair looking and feeling a little bit sticky and crispy.
Overall I really love this, it is a little pricey but it's lasting me well so far and it seems to work with my hair to create a messy natural style that lasts so I think the quality is good enough to justify the price and I'll probably repurchase this when it runs out.

Sunday Summary

Holographic nail varnish, New Marc Jacobs perfume, Relaxing, Doodling bunnies, Dyed my hair, Colorful accessories.

This has been a long week and I'm pretty exhausted, unfortunately I haven't had much time to blog but I'm hoping to get a few reviews up this week as I've been trying lots of new things this recently.
I'm graduating on Friday finally, I find it pretty ridiculous that I finished my course nearly a year ago and am only just graduating but I am looking forward to it and we're going to go for a nice meal afterwards.
