Feature Friday: April Beauty Wishlist

April Beauty Wishlist

I can't believe I'm only just discovering how amazing Origins products are, there are so many things I want to try but the No Puffery Eye Mask is definitely the one I want to try next.
The Tie-Dye kit isn't exactly a beauty product but I had to include it, I'm very tempted to buy it and then immediately head to Primark and buy a bunch of cheap plain shirts.
I have not bought any nail varnish since before I started my spending ban but the new pastel Models Own pens are so pretty and I really want to try the Barry M ones as the nibs look a little easier to use then my Models Own ones which tend to get blocked.
I've heard quite good things about the Lee Stafford Growth Treatment and as I'm trying to grow my hair this would be great.

I hope this brings you some mild entertainment on a dull Thursday.

Lush Hottie Massage Bar

Lush Hottie Massage Bar

I have never taken much interest in Lush's Massage Bars, they all look quite cute but I've never had any need to buy one, I didn't even buy this one Pete got it free when he bought me some Lush goodies for our anniversary it's not a full size bar obviously but it is a generous sample.
Hottie is a bobbly block of Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter with Organic Jojoba Oil, Ginger Oil, Vanilla Absolute and Black Pepper Oil  which makes for a lovely comforting smell. The bobbly design is supposed to enable you to knead the muscles but as you can see in my photo it melts very quickly, the photo was taken after one use and the bar now resembles a lego brick. I did manage to get Pete to give me a little back rub to properly test it out, I was a little worried that it would be a bit messy and sticky but I was pleased to find that the oils soaked into the skin well leaving skin soft and hydrated without being sticky. It was a lovely treat to use and left me feeling very relaxed, I have used it since taking the picture mostly on my arms and legs it's especially good to use after shaving or waxing my legs when my skin can feel a little dry or sore.
I would like to try some of the other massage bars as this one has been much more impressive than I thought it'd be, they're not the kind of thing I'll buy regularly but they're great for a little treat, I'd like to try either Soft Couer or From Dusk 'Til Dawn next.

100 Day No Spending Update Week 6

It's day 44 and I've had my first proper break of my ban, I'm starting run low on a few things I use daily like toner, body scrub, face wipes etc. Also my skin has been acting up a bit this week which I think is due to the cleansers I'm using, at the moment I've got a No7 Cleansing Foam and Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean, the No7 cleanser was really good when I first started using it but recently I think it's just not tough enough for my combination skin, Peaches & Clean is much better but I like to alternate my cleansers and as I'm nearly out of the No7 one I decided to make a little purchase.
So technically that wasn't breaking my ban but instead of trying to be good and just popping to Boots and picking up a fairly cheap cleanser I decided to treat myself and my skin and made a little Origins order, I ordered the Never A Dull Moment Cleanser which is £17.00 and I didn't stop there I also ordered the Out Of Trouble Mask which is £20.00. Origins are currently offering free standard delivery which was partly what swayed me into making the order, you also get a few samples with your order you get two little 5ml samples of your choice with any order and with orders over £30 you get a trio of 15ml samples, unfortunately they have run out of the Checks & Balances samples so I'll just be getting two samples with my order.
Never A Dull Moment™Out of Trouble®
I don't feel too guilty about the mask as I know it will last me absolutely ages but the cleanser definitely counts as me breaking my ban, this has been my first proper break and as we're nearing the half way point of the ban I think I've done pretty well so far and I'm going to get back on form next week.
I did make another purchase this week but I'm not really viewing that as a break, I ordered this pretty headband to wear to Pete's dads wedding next week I'm wearing a black dress so I wanted something sparkly to liven it up a bit and make sure it looks a little more wedding appropriate it was £14.00 from Dorothy Perkins and I'm going to pick it up in store on Monday as it was cheaper than getting it delivered.
Well congratulations if you made it through all that waffle, you can read my previous (much shorter) updates here:

Elemis Skin Clear Mattifying Moisturiser

Elemis Skin Clear Mattifying Moisturiser

I got this free with last months Cosmopolitan magazine, there was a choice of three Elemis freebies the Softly Softly Daily Moisturiser, the Loving Lips Quenching Lip Balm or the Skin Clear Mattifying Moisturiser I'd never tried any Elemis products before but I thought the mattifying moisturiser would be most useful for me.
It's a 25ml sample so there was more than enough for me to give the product a good try and I still have some left, although I do only use a tiny bit at a time as I find a little goes a long way for me when it comes to moisturisers.
This moisturiser is part of the Fresh Skin range which is aimed particularly at blemish prone skin and people in thier teens to twenties, it has quite a strong scent down the Bergamot extract which has antiseptic properties to help clear up blemishes. It also contains Shea Butter to help condition and moisturise the skin but I think this makes it a little bit too heavy for my skin, I've found that whilst most of my skin is left feeling quite soft and mattified, my t-zone and chin can feel a little oily after use.
A full size version of this costs £20.00 which I think if you found this to really suit your skin would be a reasonable price, if you wanted to treat yourself and I imagine a full size tube would last you quite a long time. I have quite liked using this and as my skin has been feeling a little more dry than usual in places I think this really helped with the dry areas but it's just a little too heavy in other areas so it's not something I'd consider spending £20 on as I think Benefit's Triple Performing Facial Emulsion is much more suited to my skin and it's about the same price.

NOTD: Dark Snow

I wasn't going to use any glitter but then I remembered just how pretty this blue glitter is, I used Topshop's Dark Knight over the top of Models Own Aqua Violet and then to make it even more pretty I added a couple of coats of Models Own Snowflake. I really love how the two glitters look together as Dark Knight has quite a lot of depth so the Snowflake gives it a lovely layered look.
