OOTD: New Boots

I have been such a sucky blogger over the past few months but I just don't seem to have mastered blogging on the go and I've hardly been home, so today I thought I'd share with you an outfit I wore last week the lighting isn't the best but I really loved my outfit so I thought I'd share it anyway. You may have seen some of these items in my recent haul posts. I actually bought the boots last month but have only just got round to wearing them properly but it's safe to say they are my new favourite shoes, I'm a little bit obsessed with chunky footwear as well as anything that makes me even a tiny bit taller.

I wore:
Bowler Hat- H&M
Dress- Topshop
Boots- Asos
Watch- River Island

August Birchbox

I signed up to Birchbox last month and I received my first box a few weeks ago and I was really impressed with it, each month the Birchbox has a different theme and this month they teamed up with Instyle for a summer nights themed box.
I was really pleased with what I got and now that I've had a little while to try most things out I thought I'd do a review of my first Birchbox.

First up I got this make up primer from Gerda Spillmann, it has a slight shimmer to it and applies like a moisturiser and settles to a matte finish. This hasn't really wowed me to be honest it settles in just a little bit too much so it doesn't really change how smoothly my foundation applies in the same way that Benefit Porefessional does. Whilst it doesn't make my foundation apply any better than usual I'd definitely say it prolongs the wear of my foundation and keeps it in place all day.

When I opened the box/bag I kind of overlooked this as just another red lipstick but one morning before work I decided to give it a go and I was actually really impressed with it, I like to apply a little lip balm before applying a lip colour and this applied really smoothly, the shade is a lovely bright red exactly the kind of colour I'd usually go for it applies quite subtly at first but is very buildable. It lasts for a good few hours and with very little colour transfer which is a real bonus as I hate applying a nice red lipstick to then have a drink and end up with lipstick smeared all over the glass.

I haven't tried this yet but I always enjoy trying new skincare so I'll be adding this to my little stash of beauty products I keep at Pete's.

I've heard so many good things about this I can't wait to try it but unfortunately I just haven't had a chance to try it out yet as I'm usually in a rush to get ready for work but I'm hoping to try it out this weekend.

I love a Molton Brown shower gel so I was happy to see this in my box and the scent is lovely and sweet, I've used this over the past week when I've stayed at Pete's and it's lasting pretty well.

I've wanted an eye mask for quite a while so I was delighted to have this in my box, I'm quite bad when it comes to sleep and very rarely get more than six hours which results in puffy tired looking eyes. So I'm hoping this might depuff my eyes in the morning before work.

I was quite intrigued by these as I'd never heard of them before but I haven't started taking them yet.

August Haul Part 2

Stepping Stone Foot Scrub- £2.95 Lush//  Aqua Mirabilis Body Butter-£6.25 Lush//  Dip Hem Speckle Roll Dress- £29.00 Topshop// Studded Shoulder Coat- £100 £30.00 ASOS// New Look Geo Print Trolley Holdall Bag- £24.99 ASOS// Diorskin Nude BB Creme in 001- £30.00 Debenhams.

I popped into Lush to pick up Aqua Mirabilis to replace my Soap & Glory Sugar Crush and I ended up picking up the Stepping Stone Foot Scrub as well as I fancied trying something new.
I was browsing the ASOS sale when I spotted the coat and just fell in love with it but I tried to resist and by the time I came to order it they'd sold out of my size so I ended up with a size bigger which means it's absolutely massive as it's already an oversized fit but I can't wait to wrap myself up in it over the winter months and it was an absolute bargain.
I've needed a new overnight bag for about six months as my old one is pretty knackered and doesn't actually zip up anymore but I hadn't been able to find one that was the right size, I also wanted one with some separate zip up pockets and when I saw this one I thought it was ideal it even has wheels and a long handle like a suitcase. It was a little bit bigger than  I thought it was going to be but other than that it's pretty much perfect and I love the pattern.
Finally we have a very naughty purchase, I'd been wanting to buy the Diorskin Nude BB Creme for a few months after I got a little sample from the counter at work and I finally decided to go for it after a long day at work. I might review this as I've used it quite a few times now and I absolutely adore it.

August Haul Part 1 & A Tiny Rant

Heart Shaped Glitter Top Coats- £1.00 each Poundland//

I've had lots of overtime this month which has meant I've spent a dangerous amount within close proximity of both Superdrug and Boots which has lead to this little haul.
I've been lusting over OPI's Nothin’ Mousie ‘bout It for ages so when I spotted these in Poundland I had to get them, now I'm under no allusions that these won't be perfect dupes but for a quid you can't go wrong.
I hadn't really been sucked into the hype surrounding the Maybelling Colour Tattoo Eyeshadows until I saw a couple of posts featuring the shade Metallic Pomegranate and I knew I had to make it mine.
I've had my eye on the infamous Real Technique brushes for a while and decided to treat myself to the Core Collection and as they were on offer I bought the Expert Face Brush as well after hearing so many great things about it. I am fully aware that the Core Collection includes a large buffing brush which does pretty much the same thing as the Expert Face Brush but the buffing brush is quite large so I was planning on using it for my blush and powder rather than my liquid foundation.
When I went to pay for my goodies the girl behind the till picked up my brushes looked at them for a while before shooting me a snobby look and then started laughing, not just a chuckle but full on laughing, at me before informing me that the brushes do the exact same thing and looking at me as if I were a moron, which to be honest made me feel quite embarrassed. Now maybe in her opinion buying two brushes that do pretty much the same thing seems like a stupid thing to do but I really don't think I should have to justify my purchases to anyone and as a sales adviser myself I would never dream of laughing in a customers face regardless of how incredibly stupid they can sometimes be.
Maybe I'm over reacting but it just made me feel a bit shitty and put a downer on something I'd been looking forward to purchasing.

Beauteco Box August

I got my August Beauteco box a few weeks ago and I was so happy with it but it's taken me ages to get round to reviewing it due to my work hours being all over the place, I've been at work everyday since friday so I've had no time for blogging but I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things.
I went for Menu three as I loved the sound of the serum, the box had three full sized products and two generous sample sized products, I've recieved two other beauty boxes this month (to be reviewed soon) and I have to say this was definitely my favourite and in my opinion the best value for money.

Arran Aromatics Facial Gel Wash- Full Size £12.95- link
First up I got this Arran Aromatics Facial Gel Wash, I love trying out new skincare and this is a brand I've never heard of before, I've really enjoyed using this it contains Loofah which very gently exfoliates your skin without being too harsh or drying it out, it smells lovely too with lavender and tea tree which cleanse and soothe the skin leaving it soft and refreshed. I'm so pleased this is a full size product as I love anything with tea tree in it and it leaves my skin feeling lovely and fresh.

S5 Skincare Purity Serum- £10.00 Sample £44.00 Full Size- link
I've never had too much interest in serums, the only one I've ever tried was a No7 pore refining serum which didn't actually do anything, but as this claims to be a serum aimed specifically at blemish prone skin I was quite excited to try it. The little bottle is quite cute and great for me as I tend to live out of an overnight bag for half the week, the smell is really unusual it's quite sweet and creamy kind of like custard or banofee (well in my opinion anyway) but I love it, A little goes a long way which means this sample is lasting me really well. I do tend to get breakouts especially in the summer and I really think this is making a difference, it absorbs really quickly leaving a matte finish on my skin which has been looking noticeably more clear since I added it to my routine, my pores also look a little smaller which is a bonus. I'm not sure I'd shell out £44.00 for the full size but I would buy myself another little sample as a treat.

Melvita Fresh Moisturising Body Milk- £2.40-Sample £16.00-Full size- link
I haven't actually tried this yet as I'm trying to finish off a Body Shop Body Butter, but it smells lovely and my mom has been pinching it as she adores rose scented products and she says it's great, very moisturising and soaks in quickly.

Lord & Berry Intensity Lipstick in Peach Gleam- Full Size £12.00- link
Lord & Berry are a brand that I've been wanting to try for a little while now and I really like the formula of this, I find lipsticks can be quite drying but this has a lightweight silky finish thanks to the macadamia oil, I'm not really into nude lips as I'm very pale so I can end up looking a tad sickly with a nude lip so I have now given this to my mom as she loves peachy lipsticks.

Lord & Berry Kiss Proof Lip Colour in Blossom- Full Size £7.50- link
I love this, the colour is fantastic a dark rosy pink which works great either to line the lips or used all over for a light wash of colour, I have tried lip liners before but have never got on with them as they either stand out to much or drag when applied leaving a really uneven line. The formula of this is so much better than other liners I've tried, it glides on easily leaving a soft matte finish making it very easy to build up the colour.

The overall value of the box is £44.85 which is incredible and all of the products are high quality full sized products or large samples, I've been so impressed with my Beaucteco boxes so far and I can't to see what's in next months boxes.

You can sign up to Beauteco box here and if you quote FRIEND07 when you order you will recieve two extra products with your first box.
