You Beauty Discovery Box- June 2014

I signed up to You Beauty Discovery Box last month and if you read my review of the May box you'll know I wasn't overly impressed with my first box but as soon as I saw the June shortlist I knew my next box would be much better. You Beauty Discovery box is a bit cheaper than most other beauty boxes on the market at £6.95 a month and for that price you get a choice of two products from that months shortlist along with a couple of extras. This months shortlist had a good selection of samples and full size products including two full size L'Oreal lip products and a nice selection of skincare and body products.

Montague Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Spa Mask
The first bonus product that was included  in everyone's box was this Montague Jeunesse mask, I'm sure you're all familiar with their great range of masks and I'm a huge fan of the brand myself, I particularly love their peel off masks, so I was really pleased to see this in my box especially as it's a mask I haven't tried before.

My Choice- L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Lip Colour in 121 Flawless Fuschia
Up until about 4 months ago I owned very few lip products and stuck fairly religiously to the same couple of shades but I suddenly decided to be more adventurous with my lip colours and have since amassed a rather healthy collection of bright and bold shades so I instantly knew I'd choose this as one of my choices from the June box. This is a double ended product allowing you to have some choice in how you wear it, on one end is a highly pigmented lip colour and on the other is a conditioning balm I think this is a great combination  as I have found that liquid lip colours like this can be quite drying and end up looking a little patchy after a little while.

Expandable Face Cloth
The second bonus product this month was a cute little expandable face cloth, I remember being obsessed with Disney Expandable cloths when I was younger so I got a bit nostalgic when I saw this and a new face cloth is always useful especially as I have a few trips away to the seaside planned soon.

My Choice- Her 300 Trecento Revitalising Hair Treatment
My second choice from this months shortlist was this revitalising hair treatment from Her, it's a thick creamy weekly treatment to deeply condition hair and create a protective layer to fight frizz and enhance hairs health and shine. I've used it once and really enjoyed using it, it smells fantastic, really sweet and floral, and it left my hair feeling really smooth and nourished.

I was really pleased with this months You Beauty Discovery Box and think it's much better value for money than a lot of the other beauty boxes on the market.
You can sign up to You Beauty Discovery Box here for £6.95 a month.

Born Pretty Store Review- Nail Stamping Plates

I was recently asked if I'd like to review some products for Born Pretty Store and I knew instantly which products I'd like to try, I've been reading a LOT of reviews on nail stamping plates recently and have been dying to try some so I was delighted at the chance to pick two try out. Born Pretty Store has an incredible selection of nail art tools and decorations and I was quite overwhelmed by the selection of plates available but eventually narrowed it down to two very pretty plates.
I tested both plates out first on paper to show you each of the designs properly, I used a red L'Oreal polish for the first set and a dark burgundy/pink Nails Inc polish for the second set.

Firstly I went for this Arabesque floral patterned plate*

And then I went for this little detailed necklace and bow plate*

They were also kind enough to send me a dual sided stamper and scraper* as I didn't have one at the time

I've tested these plates out a lot over the past couple of weeks with various different nail varnishes and have had mixed results, you have to use a really opaque nail varnish to ensure that the image/pattern transfers completely, you can buy specific polishes for use with stamping plates which is definitely something I'm considering as I want to buy more plates. I tried out loads of different brands of polish to try and get a good full design transfer and found that L'Oreal, Nails Inc and Ciate nail polishes worked the best for me. Most of the designs work fantastically well with my favourites being the full flower pattern and swirly pattern on the first plate and the necklaces and leaves from the second. I mainly chose the second plate for the bow design but unfortunately I've struggled to get both sides of the design to transfer completely and how found that the smaller fine designs don't transfer as well as the full nail designs. The stamper works perfectly and is super easy to clean between stamping but unfortunaetly I found that the metal scraper scratched the plates a little which is a shame so if you are making an order I would advise getting their plastic scraper (here) as this won't damage the plates.

I used Mavala polish in Jaipur and L'Oreal polish in Rouge Pin Up for this design.

I used Mavala Polish in Pacific Blue and L'Oreal polish in Indigo Classique for this deign.

Overall I'm thrilled with how well the plates work and found that after a few attempts they become really quick and easy to use, I've recieved a lot of compliments on my nails whilst wearing the designs and definitely want to try more plates and nail art items from Born Pretty Store.
The lovely people at Born Pretty Store have also given me a 10% off code to share with you lovely readers, so to save 10% on your order please enter MMYW10 at the checkout.

Una Brennan Super Facialist Tea Flower Deep Clean Purify & Refresh Facial Scrub

I haven't tried any Una Brennan products before but I was looking for a new scrub and the Una Brennan range was on offer for a third off in Boots so I decided to give this Tea Flower Facial Scrub a go.
It smells really fresh and floral with Elderflower to minimise the appearance of pores and Grapeseed oil to help retain skins moisture balance, it also has a nice refreshing tingle when applied thanks to cooling menthol.
This has a largely creamy formula with very fine exfoliating micro beads which are supposed to leave your face softened, clean and smooth without being overly harsh. I really like how fine the scrub is because I prefer a more sandy textured scrub as I feel it buffs my skin more thoroughly and leaves it feeling really smooth, the only downside is that it can be a little hard to remove all of the micro beads especially around my hair line so I only tend to use it if I'm about to wash my hair.
I've really gotten to love this scrub it's gentle but thorough, has a great summery scent and most importantly leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and deeply cleansed.
