My First MAC Eyeshadow Quad

It's happened I've officially become a MAC fan, I knew this would happen as soon as the shiny black counter appeared at work last year and I knew my bank balance would be taking a hefty hit but I started off with just one shadow (Cranberry) and a brush. Of course I was never going to stop at just one shadow and I decided I wanted to create my own quad, the great thing about working at Debenhams is that we seem to be having promotions every other week so I waited until there was 10% off beauty and then with staff discount as well the shadows were about £7 each which isn't too bad.
I didn't set out with the intention of getting a tonal palette but I found myself being drawn to the plum shades and bought four shades that are beautiful on thier own or when worn together.

Pink Venus- I wanted a nice pale shade that I could use for a lighter neutral wash of colour or as a highlight shade, I actually wanted All That Glitters but they were out of stock so I got Pink Venus instead which is a very pale peach with a lovely sparkle to it. I wear this shade quite a lot and it looks gorgeous alone which is perfect for days when I want to keep my make-up a bit more natural.

Sketch- This is the shade I've used the least, it's a lovely colour in the pan but the colour payoff just isn't as good as the other three shades I think maybe it's because it's quite matte so it's packed a little more densely than the other shadows and it's harder to pick up a decent amount of shadow on my brush. This one was hard to photograph it's much darker than the photos make it look, it's a deep burgundy colour but I find you really have to build up the opacity with this one so I haven't worn it own it's I tend to just use it as a darker shade along the crease when I'm wearing Plum Dressing or Cranberry. This is the only shade from my quad that I won't repurchase when it's run out.

Trax- My favourite shade in the quad Trax is a beautiful plum toned purple with gold shimmer running through it is so pretty, a light wash gives a mainly purple shade with a hint of sparkle but when you build up the colour it gives a pretty iridescent gold shimmer with a just a touch of purple. I've just hit the pan on this and I'll be repurchasing it when it's gone.

Plum Dressing- The most used shade in my quad is Plum Dressing it's exactly as you'd expect, a rich plum shade with a pearly finish. I've read a lot of reviews of Plum Dressing which complain about it not being pigmented enough but I find this to give great colour payoff and it lasts all day with a decent primer underneath. I've very nearly run out of Plum Dressing and I've already repurchased it, it's my go to shadow for day to day use and I like to add a wash of Cranberry over this for a bolder night time look.

Swatches left to right- Pink Venus, Trax, Plum Dressing, Sketch.

OOTD: Fairies Wear Boots

Dress- Primark
Tights- Andrea Bucci
Boots- Primark
Necklace- eBay

This dress was an absolute bargain it cost me just £8 and I have been living in it, it's quite a thick soft material, it's the perfect length and the sleeves finish just before my elbows which I love. I wore this outfit to take a walk around Himley Park with Pete, it was quite a chilly day so I put on my 100 denier fleece lined tights which are possibly the best thing I've ever bought from Debenhams, I think they were about £8 but I treated myself to another pair in the sale for under £2 which I was very pleased about. I've also been living in these Primark chunky chelsea boots, I saw a few bloggers sporting these boots and fell in love, I couldn't find them in any of my local Primark's but I managed to hunt them down on a trip to Manchester back in November and I've worn them pretty much every weekend, they're super comfy but still give me little extra height which is always bonus for me.

Dr.Jart+ V7 Cleansing Foam

I bought this cleanser after trying the Dr.Jart+ V7 Turnover Booster which I got in my November Birchbox, at first I wasn't all that keen on it but I hate wasting products so I persevered with it and I'm very pleased I did as my skin has definitely improved, apart from a brief dalliance with Caudalie's Vinoperfect Radiance Serum which made me break out.
The V7 Cleansing Foam has a lovely sweet scent which reminds me of lemonade I think the scent comes mainly from the Sea Buckthorn Extract which is supposed to relieve tension and it definitely makes me feel relaxed.
It has a thick creamy texture which you mix with a bit of water to get a lighter creamy foam, I find that once I've rinsed this off I'm left with a squeaky clean feeling which I don't normally like as my skin usually feels tight when I've used this sort of cleanser but this one doesn't give my skin any tight feeling just a very refreshed clean feel.
It has an oil free formula which is always a plus for me as I have find my skin can be quite oily anyway, it's quite a gentle cleanser and the fresh scent is perfect for an early morning cleanse. I've been using it for over a month and my skin looks and feels much more clear and balanced than usual I still have the odd problem area but I use a really good exfoliator on in between days to thoroughly cleanse my skin.

You Beauty Discovery- February 2015

This may well be my last month with YBD as I was again very underwhelmed by the choices on this months menu, there was a choice from 9 products, three of which I couldn't pick as they were hair blending brushes aimed at black, brown and blonde hair so I ended up picking things just for the sake of it and I feel like I'm just wasting my money on this box.

Free Samples:

BareMinerals Pure Brightening Serum Foundation
I love trying new foundations but they are always too dark for my skintone so I'm not holding out much hope for this.

Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolates
I love Lindor chocolates they are seriously tasty so I was happy to see these in my box and it gave a nice Valentines touch to the February box and might possibly have been the best bit of the box for me this month.

My Product Choices:

L'Occitane En Provence Almond Delicious Hands
This was the one thing from this months product shortlist that actually stood out to me, I love L'Occitane hand creams and this one smells so sweet and just wonderful but I do wish the sample was just a little bigger.

IN.FUSED Coconut Body Scrub
I've never heard of IN.FUSED but I checked out their website and they do a small selection of body scrubs and bath soaks which claim to improve different skin problems such as cellulite, eczema and stretch marks. I'm really not a fan of coconut scented products but this was the only other product on the February menu that I thought I would actually use and the Coconut scrub is supposed to help with stretch marks so I'm looking forward to giving it a go to see if it makes any difference to my skin.

You can sign up to You Beauty Discovery here for for £6.95 a month.

My Little Frenchie Box- February 2015

This might be my favourite My Little Box yet, it was so adorable and unpacking this months goodies genuinely cheered me up after a rather low month, this month they went with a Frenchie theme and Parisienne chic. The box as always was beautifully designed with everything in red, white and blue and a very pretty illustration of Ines de La Fressange who collaborated on this months box.

Smartphone Case
This is so pretty and I'm so glad that this is a case that will fit most smartphones and not just Iphones, I can never find cases for my HTC Mini so I was very happy to receive this, it also has a little pocket in the front to pop your headphones in which is very useful as mine are usually just floating around the bottom of my bag.

This is so cute little jar of notes to motivate and make you smile, I could definitely use a pick me right now and this definitely made me smile, I love that they've stuck with the French theme and all the notes are red, white and blue. I'm going to enjoy opening one of these notes each morning and I think when they're all gone I may try and fill ti up with my own little words of motivation.

As usual there was also a little cloth bag with beauty bits inside and they really excelled themselves in this month.

DHC Oil Blotting Paper
I recently tried DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil which I loved so I was pleased to have another DHC product to try and I've been meaning to try blotting papers for a while, the paper is really soft and delicate and I'll definitely be popping this into my handbag.

L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper
I'm always apprehensive when I see a brow product in a beauty box as more often than not they are brown and way too dark for me to use but this is a nice clear brow mascara aimed to plump your natural brows and give them a thicker fuller appearance which is definitely a bonus for me.

My Little Beauty- Embellisseur Teint De Peche
As always My Little Box have included a product from their own in house beauty line, this month subscribers were treated to a light peachy coloured face tint to give a glowing complexion, at first I thought this was going to be too dark for my skin but it actually applies pretty sheer with just a subtle hint of a glow.

By Terry- Crayon Kohl in Bronze Generation
Normally I am pretty dismissive about pencil liners in beauty boxes but this ones something special, the packaging is beautiful and the shade is even more gorgeous a beautiful black with gold glitter running through it. It applies super smoothly and is opaque with just one swipe, this may have even convert me to try more pencils instead of just sticking to gel liners.

This months box was a definite winner for me and I'm really looking forward to next months box, you can sign up to My Little Box here for £11 per month +p&p.
