My Little Dream Box- April 2015

I am yet to be disappointed by My Little Box's monthly box and this month I'm super happy with my box, this months theme was to do with following your dreams and feeling inspired and the contents definitely fit that theme well.

Lucky Star Necklace by Delphine Pariente
There was an adorable cloud shaped package in this months box and I couldn't wait to cut it open, inside was this adorable little necklace by jewellery designer Delphine Pariente with 'Lucky Star' engraved on it in french, it's lovely and dainty, perfect for the summer.

Rotatable Stamp & Ink Pad
This is so cute, it has lots of sweet sayings like 'made with love' and I really think I'll get a lot of use out of it.

The Beauty Bits

Repairing Hair Mask by My Little Box
Every month My Little Box include a beauty product from their own in house beauty range and they never fail to impress me, this month subscribers received a repairing hair mask, I haven't tried it yet but it smells wonderful and the packaging is just lovely.
Loved Lip Balm by Lou Lesage
A nice little red tinted lip balm to pop in your handbag, it's quite sheer but leaves my lips feeling moisturised and soft.
Solid Perfume in Copacabana by Le Soft Perfume
I do love a solid perfume and have bought a few from Lush which I've loved so I was happy to see this in my box, I was worried Copacabana would have a really strong coconutty smell which I wouldn't like but it's lovely and exotic with notes of bergamot, orange blossom and violet which give it a warm and subtle scent perfect for summer nights and this will be popped in my handbag sometime soon.

Maybelline Brow Satin Eyebrow Pencil in Mahogany Red

It's really not that easy to find a good eye brow pencil when you're a redhead, most high street brands only offer shades to suit those with blonde or brown hair, I normally go for blonde shades as my eyebrows are pretty much naturally white but it never quite looks right. So when I saw this one from Maybelline in the shade mahogany red I snapped it up immediately, as you can see from the swatches this pencil is quite gingery toned and it does near enough match my natural hair colour which is great but in terms of the product itself I have mixed feelings towards it.
Let's start with the pencil end which is your basic twist up lead, I find the nib is just the right width to give me a natural looking brow and the pigmentation is perfect but you have to be careful to only twist out a tiny bit otherwise it has a habit of snapping which mine did a lot.
The other end of the pencil contains a powder in the same shade which a sponge applicator which allows you to build up a denser colour on the thicker end of your brows . I wasn't all that impressed by this side of the pencil, again the colour is perfect but it tends to blur the edges of my brows which if you want a nice sharp line isn't ideal. One thing that really irritates me about this is that the packaging on the powder end is awful, whenever I use it all the black comes off the lid for the powder and goes all over my fingers so much so that that end of the pencil is now completely see through.
I used up the pencil part of this brow liner really quickly and now I'm left with just the powder which is a bit irritating. I can't fault the shade as its the best one I've come across for redheads but I'd like it much more if they lowered the price and got rid of the powder side. So the hunt for a good brow pencil continues.

Lush- You Snap The Whip Body Butter

Lush review- You Snap The Whip Body Butter Scrub

After running out of my latest Soap & Glory scrub I popped to Lush with the intention of picking up my beloved Aqua Mirabilis but I hadn't used You Snap The Whip in a while and it smells so wonderful and fruity I got that instead.  I used this a couple of years ago and really liked it but this time I just can't get on with it.
I'll start with the positives, I adore the smell of this it shares the same scent as The Comforter and Sweetie Pie both of which are favourites of mine, it smells like blackcurrant sweeties and is filled  with bergamot oil, cassis absolute and cypress oil, it's such an uplifting summery scent.
Now onto the bad points using this will leave your bath/shower looking like a Jackson Pollock painting there are literally grey splatters everywhere when I've used this, they do rinse away easily but it's still not ideal.
I like a good thorough exfoliator but this is just too harsh for me, it has both pumice and powdered charcoal in it and no matter how gently I try to use it I am left with scratches on my skin, it feels like I'm washing with sandpaper which is just not very relaxing. I'm not sure whether Lush have changed this since the last time I've used it because I don't remember the last one I had actually leaving long scratches up my arms but it's safe to say I won't be repurchasing this when it's run out. I'll stick to Aqua Mirabilis which is much more gentle and leaves my skin feeling super soft and if I'm craving that beautiful blackcurrant scent I have a tub of Sweetie Pie shower jelly stashed away.

OOTD: I Was Made For Lovin' You

I Wore:
Kiss Top- And Finally.. at Topshop
Skinny Jeans- H&M
Creepers- Essex Shoes
Necklace- Topshop
Sunglasses- Primark

Sometimes I like to dress all girly in a nice tea dress or floral blouse but most of the time you'll find me in something more like this with one of my favourite bands emblazoned on my chest and the chunkiest shoes I can find. I picked up this top in the Topshop sale after Christmas they only had one and it's a size 16 but I just had to have it and I will be living in it this summer, the arm holes are cut really low so I picked up a plain black boob tube from Primark for £1.50 to keep my bra/boobs covered up.
I have been on the hunt for some decent fitting black jeans and ordered a few pairs from H&M to try at home, I ended up keeping these skinnies which were £19.99 and are perfect, they're technically jeggings so they're really stretchy and really high waisted so they hide some of my little pudgy belly which is a bonus.
I will be wearing this outfit tonight for a little gathering at my friends house where much rum will be consumed and we'll probably end up dancing around like fools ha!

Birchbox- April 2015

This months Birchbox had a Royally Good theme to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Royal baby number 2, at first I was a little underwhelmed with the contents of my April box but I'm actually pretty pleased with it now as pretty much all of the products are things I'll use.

The one thing that I probably won't use from this months box are these Inner Me beauty supplements, I've had a few different supplements from Inner Me in various beauty boxes and whilst I like the idea of them I just never get around to actually using them. To be honest I'm not sure exactly what these ones are supposed to do as the website just say they give you a daily boost so maybe they are supposed to give you more energy I'm not sure but they just aren't something I need right now.

I always like a nice thick balm to carry around with me and this Remedy one from Pommade Divine is lovely, I've found my hands have been quite dry recently so I need something a bit more heavy duty than my usual hand cream to get them feeling nice and soft again so I was happy to see this in  my box.

I've never tried any Bliss products so I tried this the same day my box arrived and it's a lovely little cleanser with tiny exfoliating beads to cleanse and exfoliate in one easy step it also has milk thistle and chamomile to ensure your skin is thoroughly cleansed without feeling stripped and dry. So far I've been quite impressed with this cleanser but it's quite pricey to buy at £19.50 so I probably wouldn't buy it myself.

I already have a little sample bottle of this at Pete's house which I got absolutely ages ago and I wrote a review of it here, I really like this and was happy to get another as my old one is nearly gone it's perfect for adding a bit of moisture to the lengths of your hair and smoothing flyaways without weighing hair down or leaving it greasy.

This month subscribers were given the choice of three different Laura Mercier products for thier April box I went for the mascara as I already have the primer and I don't really like eye pencils also I've tried a couple of Laura Mercier mascara's which have all been great so I'm looking forward to trying this.

I've never heard of Lola Barcelona but I'm always happy to add another nail polish to my collection and this one is a gorgeous deep coral which is perfect for summer, apparently these nail polishes are formulated with diamond dust to add extra strength and durability which is always a bonus when it comes to nail polish.

You can sign up to Birchbox here for £10 +p&p.
