May Empties + Reviews

I wasn't planning on doing monthly empty posts I was just going to do them every once in a while but I seem to have used up loads of stuff during May so here we are with another empties post.

Soap & Glory Girligo Moisturising Mist
I normally use Mist You Madly but I decided to try something different, Girligo has a very sweet creamy scent and is really moisturising but to be honest I wasn't a huge fan it sprays out in a milk like consistency and leaves a sticky feeling on my skin so I won't be repurchasing this.
The Body Shop Chocomania Body Scrub
I could talk about my love for the Chocomania range all day long and I am so sad that they discontinued it as it was my favourite scent from The Body Shop, this is pretty much the same as all of their body scrubs it has a gritty texture without being overly harsh and leaves skin feeling smooth and hydrated. If I could repurchase this I would but I have a full sized shower gel and body butter in the scent to keep me going.
Lush Pot 'O Gold
Lush's limited edition product from this years Easter range, Pot 'O gold had a delicious caramelly scent with warm undertones that made it smell really comforting. I wrote a full review of this here and will definitely repurchase it if it comes back next year.
Lush Let The Good Times Roll
I first used this when it was released as part of Lush's Christmas range in 2012 and since they added it to their permanent collection it has become a firm favourite of mine, the scent is absolutely incredible with popcorn and cinnamon it smells like some kind of pudding or chocolate bar. You can read my full review of it here and it's safe to say that I will forever repurchase this.
Ted Baker Bath Foam
I got this as part of a gift set and it sat neglected in the back of my drawers for ages but as I am currently out of Lush bath products and have promised not to buy any until I take a trip to Lush Oxford Street (very psyched for that) I used this up last week. It was alright but I wouldn't buy it for myself.
Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel
Pretty much every Lush Fans favourite, Snow Fairy is a candy scented shower gel in a beautiful shade of pink packed with iridescent shimmer, it is one of the most moisturising shower gels I've ever used and every Christmas I stock up on bottles. My stash is now all gone which sucks but I made it nearly half way through the year without having to be without it so I'm quite pleased with that and I will definitely stock up again come December.
Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment
I've had this for ages and used it lots last summer but once my hair got super long I stopped using it but since my last haircut I've started using it about once a week to encourage my hair to grow and add a bit more strength to my locks. As with all Lee Stafford products it has thier wonderful signature scent which is really strong and I can still smell it the day after I've washed my hair, I'm not sure whether it made my hair grow any faster as my hair grows pretty quickly anyway but it definitely improved the health of my hair so I would repurchase it as a treat.

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions All-Over Clearing Treatment
I was expecting to absolutely love this, my skin has been quite blemish prone recently so I added this to my regular routine and hoped it would make a difference, unfortunately I didn't notice any real difference in my skin from using this and I was quite disappointed. I won't be repurchasing this as it's £19 and I don't think it improved my blemishes at all, I much prefer the Vichy Normaderm Night Detox which left my skin much clearer.
Diorskin Forever Foundation in 010
My absolute holy grail foundation I just bought my third bottle, it is quite expensive at £32.50 but it's the absolute perfect shade for me and the coverage is fantastic I wrote a bit more about it in my last beauty favourites post which you can read here.
Topshop Airbrush Primer
Another product which I expected to love but which left me utterly underwhelmed, I'm a huge fan of Topshop's beauty range and hoped that this would be a cheaper alternative to my beloved Porefessional primer. Upon testing it the texture is similar to Porefessional quite silky and soft but this doesn't have the weightless feel I like and felt quite thick and heavy on my skin, I don't feel like my foundation applied as smoothly over this but it did make my makeup last all day. I would say if you have blemish prone skin like me then this probably isn't for you, I felt like this really blocked my pores which lead to more blemishes and it just wasn't a nice product to use.
This Works: Sleeps Pillow Spray
I got this little mini sleep kit at when I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Chester, I have used up the pillow spray and really enjoyed using it I'm not sure if it helped me to sleep any better but I did feel relaxed after spraying this over my pillow.
In.Fused Coconut Coffee Body Scrub
I got this in a beauty box and was quite intrigued by it, you're supposed to grab a handful of the powdery scrub which is mostly made up of ground coffee and coconut bits infused with various oils and apply it using circular motions to encourage circulation and then stand and let the scrub 'work' for 7-10  minutes. Well lets be honest who has the time or patience to stand there for 10 minutes covered in coffee, each of the scrubs has different aims with the coconut one claiming to target stretch marks, cellulite, acne scarring and psoriasis whilst buffing and smoothing the skin. I didn't find that it made any difference to my stretch marks or cellulite but then I didn't have time to let it 'work' for 10 minutes, it was nice to use, it left my skin feeling smooth and it smelt pretty fantastic but it's not something I'd shell out £18.99 on. Also this is the messiest product I think I've ever used in the shower you get bits of coffee going literally everywhere so just be prepared to wash down the entire shower after you've used this.

Makeup Revolution Mini Haul

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Flashing, Crime & Mystify Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Flashing, Mystify, Crime Swatches
I made a little order from Superdrug as they had 3 for 2 on all the makeup, I've really been trying not to spend but I couldn't resist getting myself a few little bargains from Makeup Revolution. I bought myself three lipsticks for a whole £2, now I've bought myself one of their lipsticks before and really didn't get on with it I found the formula a bit greasy and it didn't apply very evenly but as I usually love Makeup Revolution products I thought I'd give them another go. I went for some really summery shades and the formula of these is much better than the other one I own which was one of their Vampy shades.

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Flashing Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Flashing Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Flashing Swatch
This is definitely a Barbie pink it applies much more pale than it appears in the bullet and it's not a shade I'll wear too often as I think it makes me look a bit washed out but on days when I've gone for a more natural eye look this is great for a pop of colour.

Makeup Revolution Scandalous Lipstick in CrimeMakeup Revolution Scandalous Lipstick in Crime
Makeup Revolution Scandalous Lipstick in Crime Swatch
A bright vivid pink that almost leans towards purple and my favourite out of the three it's a fairly bold shade and I absolutely love it, it applies really smoothly with quite a glossy finish unfortunately the staying power isn't all that great but for £1 I can't really complain.

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in MystifyMakeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Mystify

A coral toned peach I find the formula of this one a bit more dry and it tends to drag when I apply it highlighting any dry bits on my lips so I think I'll have to prep my lips with a balm before wearing this. It has quite a pearly finish and has a definite coral tone to it, this isn't the type of shade I would normally go for but I think it's a perfect shade for summer.

Makeup Revolution Pro E102 Eyeshadow Contour BrushMakeup Revolution Pro E102 Eyeshadow Contour Brush
I also picked up one of their eyeshadow brushes for £1.95 which is an absolute bargain, as the name suggests I've been using this to blend darker shades around the outer crease of my eyes and it really is great for blending I sometimes use this to blend a lighter shade all over my lids as well. It doesn't pick up quite as much shadow as I would like but it's great for creating a nice soft edge if you're after a more natural look.

I've really been loving Makeup Revolution recently and have made another (rather large) order over the weekend which I'm hoping should arrive tomorrow so expect another haul post very soon.

A quick post today to share with you this very beautiful eyeshadow, I did a review of the Urban Decay Moondust in Diamond Dog which is a gorgeous brown packed with silver shimmer so if you want to hear my thoughts on the formula and staying power of the Moondust shadows read my review here
Solstice is absolutely beautiful, it isn't a shade I was immediately drawn to but having been blown away by Diamond Dog I wanted to try another of the Moondust shadows and after swatching all the shades in store I had to pick up Solstice. The shade itself looks really bold in the pan, an iridescent peachy pink that looks almost red but once applied it doesn't have the same pigmentation as Diamond Dog it applies much more sheer. One swipe over the lid with my MAC 217 is enough for a gentle shimmery look but you can build up more of a peachy shade if you use a brush with more tightly packed bristles which is how I applied it in the second photo. With it being quite sheer it's a really versatile shade I mainly apply it over MAC Plumful which looks gorgeous and brings out more of the peachy tones but I also use it over blue shades as shown above which looks beautiful and gives a wonderful bluey silver shimmer.
It's not a shade for everyone but if you're looking for a statement eye shadow that requires very little work to create a multitude of looks then this is definitely for you and with festival season coming up I can imagine this being the perfect shade for any bloggers heading to a muddy field who want something to throw on super quick.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink Swatch & Review

I have used the same gel liner for about two years and it was literally my holy grail eyeliner and trust me I've tried an awful lot but sadly my dear L'Oreal Super Liner Gel Intenza appears to have been
discontinued. I tried a couple of high street gel liners in my attempt to find a replacement but when nothing came even remotely close I headed to the beauty counters in Debenhams and after a bit of looking around I picked up the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear gel liner and at first I absolutely loved it, the formula is a bit drier than my beloved L'Oreal liner but other than that it worked an absolute dream. However once I got about a third of the way down the pot I started to feel more and more disappointed with it, for the first hour or so it looks wonderful but by the time I get to work the cat eye flick is already flaking off and by the end of my shift I'm left with just a dull flaky flick that's all but none existent. I'm so disappointed with it considering the £18 price tag and the fact it claims to long lasting I was expecting much higher quality and I won't be repurchasing it, the L'Oreal Super Liner is still available on Feel Unique so I'm going to order a couple of pots.

If anyone can can recommend a really good long lasting gel liner let me know.

MAC Up The Amp Lipstick

Mac Up The Amp Lipstick Review + SwatchMac Up The Amp Lipstick Review + SwatchMac Up The Amp Lipstick Review + Swatch
Mac Up The Amp Lipstick Review + Swatch

Say hello to my new favourite lipstick, I only own three MAC lipsticks, I bought the infamous Heroine at the start of the year (review here) and really liked it but I find the formula a bit drying as it has a matte finish. I'd been thinking about adding another couple of shades to my stash of lipsticks and having exhausted the beauty counter of Topshop I headed to MAC, Up The Amp is a shade that caught my eye a while ago but I tried to resist as I shouldn't really be spending £15.50 on a lipstick. However working in Debenhams means we have promotions fairly regularly and when we had our last Mega Week I treated myself to two new MAC lipsticks (oops!) there was 10% off plus I got my staff discount and I had some points on my beauty card to spend so they weren't too expensive.
Up The Amp is one of MAC's amplified creme finish lipsticks and I absolutely love the formula of this, it glides onto lips giving exceptional coverage and it has impressive longevity in terms of pigmentation, I like the fact that when this does fade it fades evenly leaving a stain of the shade behind, there's nothing worse than wearing a super bold statement lipstick only to find that a few hours later you're left with super patchy lips.
The downside to this super soft formula is that you have to be really careful and apply it gently, unfortunately after a couple of uses mine did snap off right at the base of the bullet and I had to sort of squash it back together which to be honest looks a right mess. It is sort of still usable but it's definitely not going to last too long which is very disappointing so I got in touch with MAC but I was doubtful that they would do much as I'd bought it from Debenhams and not directly from them and I'd lost my receipt. Two days after I sent my email I got an email back from them to let me know that a brand new one was on its way to me and sure enough within the week a new Up The Amp popped through my letterbox.  I was amazed at how great MAC's customer services was and it's definitely made me more inclined to continue buying from them.
Anyway back to the lipstick the shade of this is just absolutely gorgeous, a slightly muted pink based purple which sits much less harshly against my complexion than Heroine. This is my new go to shade for the summer, although I don't tend to wear Up The Amp for work very often as customers are much less friendly toward me when I wear purple shades I'm not sure why but I'm wondering if it's possible that the purple makes my baby face look even younger and the more snobby customers seem to brush me off as some miserable teenager despite the fact I'm 24.
But anyway this is definitely a must have shade for me and one that I know I will repurchase a lot.

My Little Provence Box

My Little Provence Box
My Little Provence Box
My Little Provence Box
Another month another fabulous My Little Box, this month they have teamed up with L'Occitane to give subscribers a taste of Provence and as usual I love everything in my box.

My Little Box Gold Cuff
The first thing that caught my eye was the little flowery package (seriously how gorgeous is that print) inside was this lovely chunky gold cuff and two bobbins of blue thread, you can use a needle to make your own pattern through the loops which I will definitely be doing. I think I might do a cross pattern on mine.

My Little Box Magnetic Doll
Next up was this magnetic doll which you can stick on your fridge and dress up in all the little magnetic clothes and accessories, I remember these being very popular when I was about 10 and I think I had a Groovy Chick one which I loved. So this made me feel a little nostalgic although this is obviously much more chic than the ones I had as a child.

The Beauty Bits:
My Little Provence Box
My Little Box L'Occitane Mer & Mistral Shower Gel, L'Occitane Verbena Body Lotion, L'Occitane Rose Hand & Nail Cream and L'Occitane Verbena Leaf Soap
There are four little travel sized treats from L'Occitane in the Provence box; L'Occitane Mer & Mistral Shower Gel, L'Occitane Verbena Body Lotion, L'Occitane Rose Hand & Nail Cream and L'Occitane Verbena Leaf Soap. I have quite a few mini breaks planned for the summer so these will come in very handy, I especially like the look of the soap which is shaped like a leaf and has crushed leaves in it to exfoliate and cleanse your skin.
My Little Beauty Eye Shadow Crayon
My Little Beauty Eye Shadow Crayon

Last but not least we have this gorgeous eyeshadow crayon, I'm not normally a fan of this type of eyeshadow as I find they crease really quickly and the pigmentation isn't great but having tested this out I've been pretty impressed with it. The eyeshadow is a beautiful metallic golden brown, it glides onto skin and is incredibly pigmented and I haven't worn this properly yet so I'm not sure whether it creases on lids but I've thus far been very impressed by all of MLB's own beauty products and I have high hopes for this one.

You can sign up to My Little Box here for £11 per month +p&p.
