June & July Empties

I missed my empties post last month so this month we have a rather hefty one, this is everything I've used up during June and July.

Aussie Take The Heat Conditioner
I've always loved Aussie haircare but I've finally used up the last of my stash of products so I've decided to take a little break and try something new.

Daisy Marc Jacobs Shower Gel
I got this in a giftset with the Daisy perfume but I find that I never enjoy the shower gels as much as the fragrances themselves so it took me ages to use it up.

Bumble And Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo
I quite liked this to begin with and it's a fairly nice shampoo to give hair a bit of shine and movement but I wouldn't repurchase it as I don't feel it's worth the £18.50 price tag and I'm currently working my way through Lush's huge range of shampoo bars.

Bumble And Bumble Seaweed Mild Marine Conditioner
Another slightly disappointing product from Bumble And Bumble, I thought a lightweight conditioner would leave my hair shiny and light but this was just way too light for my thick hair and I felt that my hair was a little dry after using this.

Bumble And Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil
The last of my Bumble And Bumble empties and this one was more impressive, as the name would suggest it's an incredibly lightweight oil that leaves hair soft and sleek but not weighed down, I actually got this free with an order but it impressed me so much I'd definitely consider buying a full size.

Soap And Glory Hand Maid
Since working in retail and bra fitting I find that it's always best to carry some hand sanitizer with me and it doesn't hurt that this has Soap & Glory's gorgeous signature scent.

The Body Shop Seaweed Pore Perfector
Whilst I did enjoy using this I purchased a new serum after this which I like much better but if you want to read my full thoughts about this you can do so here.

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in Light
I really liked this, the shade is great and it's super easy to apply but I found that the nib tended to break off really easily so I used it up really quickly so I won't be repurchasing it.

Maybelline Brow Satin Pencil in Mahogany Red
The colour of this is absolutely perfect for me, there is a serious lack of eyebrow products that actually cater for red heads so I was pretty excited to try this, I wish this was just a basic twist up pen but it's double ended so it also has a powder end with a slightly strange sponge applicator. I can't really see the point in the powder end I don't see how you're supposed to use it on your brows and because of this the twist up end is half the length it could be, so I used this up way too quickly to justify buying it again.

Collection Eyebrow Definer in Blonde
This is my new favourite eyebrow product and I've tried a fair few in the past couple of months hence why there are three in this empties post, this is super cheap like all of Collections products the colour isn't quite as perfect as the Maybelline one it's a little cool toned but it applies nice and dark and the nib is thin enough to apply in little strokes.

Lush Charity Pot
I find these little pots of body lotion to be quite handy to pop in my bag and all the money from  the Charity Pot goes straight to helping Lush's many great charities plus it smells divine.

The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter
Chocomania was my absolute favourite scent from The Body Shop and I was so sad when they discontinued the range so everytime they have a sale I pop in to see if they've got any old stock left, last time I picked up a few body butters and a shower gel.

St Ives Apricot Scrub
Having rediscovered this back in March I've gone through several tubes and I still love it just as much and just repurchased it, you can read my full thoughts about it here.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+
I absolutely loved this when I first started using it but towards the end of the tube I started to feel like it wasn't doing all that much for my skin and I'm now using Vichy's Normaderm Night Detox which I feel suits my skin much better.

My Little Box Micellar Water
I used this as a makeup remover as I'm trying to stop using face wipes and my skin definitely felt better for it, as this is only available through My Little Beauty which doesn't ship to the UK I can't repurchase this and so I bought Benefit's Makeup Remover instead which I'm loving.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash
This has become my go to cleanser it's fairly cheap at £5 a tube and it does wonderful things to my skin, tea tree is renowned for it's antibacterial properties which makes it excellent for preventing blemishes. I bought another tube of this before I ran out and I will continue to repurchase this again and again.

My Little Road Trip Box

This months My Little Box has a road trip theme and as usual it is filled with cute useful lifestyle bits as well as some fantastic beauty products all encased in a delightful box designed by their in house illustrator.
The first thing in the box is a cute little holiday notebook, as a chronic list maker I'm forever scribbling down things so I need to have a little notebook with me at all times and I do love to doodle so this will go straight in my handbag. This isn't just a notebook though it's designed to be a place to record all your holiday thoughts and memories before you seal it up and post it home so you can relive the best bits of your holiday when you're back home.

Next up is this cute travel organiser where you can keep your passport, travel documents and any other holiday essentials I'm not going abroad but this might be useful to store all my train tickets and things as I go off for little trips this summer.

The Beauty Bits:

Temporary Tattoos
I used to absolutely love temporary tattoos when I was little so I'm looking forward to trying these, I'm not sure exactly when I'll get chance to use them as I'm not going to any festivals or anything but I'm sure I'll find time.

Summer Sorbet Aftersun Body Gelee
From MLB's own beauty range this smells incredible and it does exactly what it claims to, you apply this after a shower for an instant skin cooling effect perfect for taking on holidays to cool you down especially if you've caught the sun and it leaves skin super soft.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I've been using Benefit's Makeup Remover for the past month and absolutely love it although it is quite pricey, I was on the verge of repurchasing it when I got this Micellar water from Garnier so I'm looking forward to trying this and hopefully it will wow me enough to deter my splurge on Benefit.

Essie Nail Polish in DJ Play That Song
I only own two Essie nail polishes for some reason so I was very happy to see this in the box, it's not a colour I would pick out for myself, a pink based plum tone that is very summer appropriate (unlike the weather right now). I'll definitely be wearing this on my holidays.

You can sign up to My Little Box here for £11 +p&p per month.

Birchbox- July 2015

This months Birchbox was actually a Birchbag and I have to admit it was nice to mix it up a little and take a break from the boxes which have started to take over my room plus I can imagine this little yellow bag being pretty useful for traveling. In terms of the content I was pretty impressed this month, I feel like this is the first time in months where I've looked at what's in the 'box' and thought yeah ok I'm quite excited to use all of this.

First up is the little added extra to this months box, a Spa To You nail file it's not massively exciting but I'm constantly misplacing my nail files so it was nice to get another fairly sturdy looking one.

Like most red heads I burn like an absolute bitch the moment the sun comes out so I'm always happy to get products like this which will cool and soothe burnt or irritated skin and I will definitely be popping this in my suitcase for my holiday in a couple of weeks.

I've tried a few Balance Me products including their Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm which I absolutely loved so I'm excited to try their Congested Skin Serum which aims to restore balance to skin, clear pores and prevent breakouts.

I'm not sure how I feel about this to be honest, the packaging looks so much like a nail varnish I'm reluctant to put it on my face, but as I've used and loved liquids highlighters such as Benefit's High Beam I tested it out on the back of my hand and was actually pleasantly surprised. Glow Getter is much more bronze toned than High Beam and I was worried that it would be too harsh on my pale complexion but it's really easy to blend out to leave just a shimmery glow to skin. It's definitely not something I would use on a daily basis but for an evening look I think this will be useful.

Benefit's Dream Screen is a product I've had my eye on for a while so I was really pleased to see it in this month's box. This is spf 45 which is more than enough to fully protect the skin from Sun damage and it doesn't feel too thick which is great. I haven't had chance to use this yet as the weather's been abysmal but I'll be popping it in my makeup bag to take on holiday.

My favourite thing in this month's box, a POP eyeshadow trio in Peach Parfait which is a set of gorgeous warm shimmery nudes. I've recently rekindled my love for my Urban Decay Naked palette but it's quite bulky to take on holiday so this little trio will really come in handy for the few trips I've got coming up and the shades are perfect for my skin tone.

Lush Oxford Street- Intergalactic Bath Bomb

Lush Oxford Street- Intergalactic Bath Bomb
Intergalactic- £3.50
Lush Oxford Street- Intergalactic Bath Bomb
Lush Oxford Street- Intergalactic Bath Bomb
Lush Oxford Street- Intergalactic Bath Bomb
Lush Oxford Street- Intergalactic Bath Bomb
The third and final bath bomb from my first Lush Oxford Street haul, you can see that here,  Intergalactic is a beautiful blue bomb with a bright centre of pink, yellow and white, and of course lots and lots of glitter.
Once in the water this bomb fizzed away really quickly making swirls of blue and white and releasing  popping candy and loads of golden glitter which as you can see in the last photo stuck to the bottom of the bath, but it did rinse away fairly quickly.
Scent wise this bomb has a really strong Peppermint scent with more subtle tones of Vetivert oil, Cedarwood Oil and Grapefruit Oil which add a citrus like edge to it, I'll be honest this scent wasn't really to my taste, once in the water I found the cedarwood came through more and didn't sit all that well with the mint.
I enjoyed using Intergalactic it made for a refreshing soak, I liked it more than The Experimenter but so far Frozen has been my favourite of Lush's new products.

OOTD: Sailor Jerry

I Wore:
Dress- H&M
Socks- Topshop
Shoes- Topshop
Hair Bow- Vintage

I have been looking for a dress like this for absolutely ages so as soon as I found it on H&M's website I immediately added it to my basket and it is perfect, I wasn't too sure what shoes to team with it so I chucked on my new Topshop Flatforms if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
I also wore some of my favourite jewelry as I was going out for a family meal with Pete, I think he got me the little gingerbread man charm from Thomas Sabo for my 18th birthday and then he bought me the heart necklace and matching earrings from the Frankfurt Christmas market a couple of years ago. I love this necklace it always makes me feel nostalgic when I wear it and think about when we first got together and I love the fact it matches my engagement ring now as well.

Lush Oxford Street- Frozen Bath Bomb

You may know that I popped to Lush's Oxford Street store a few weeks ago and picked up a huge array of their new exclusive products, you can see my full haul here
I reviewed The Experimenter bath bomb last week and found it a little underwhelming and I'll admit I didn't have really high hopes for Frozen as I was expecting something really minty and I also hate that bloody film. Well I was most definitely wrong about this little frosty bomb, the design is perfect and goes so well with the name, a snowy white exterior with a bright icy blue running through the center and of course there's a beautiful shimmer to it too.
I was really expecting Frozen to smell minty but it's actually quite floral with Rose Oil, Neroli Oil and Grapefruit Oil I'm not hugely into rose scented things but I adore neroli and it really compliments the rose whilst the grapefruit adds a sharp sweet edge to it.
Once popped in the water the white parts started to foam up leaving a frothy layer on the water whilst the bright blue centre fizzled out revealing loads of silver shimmer and once it was all done the water was truly beautiful. The photos really don't do it justice, the lustre in the bomb makes the water look worthy of the Little Mermaid it is absolutely gorgeous and combined with the soothing scent of neroli it leaves you feeling super relaxed.

OOTD: Summer, Man

Take me back to Tenby! Please?
So we spent a lovely week in my absolute favourite place, we visit Tenby every year and it's a place that makes me feel so at peace and happy that I wish I could visit more than once a year as our trips always seem to fly by. This year we were joined by Pete's dad, his wife, my mom and my dad who all came down for a couple of days, I won't lie we spent a whole lot of time in our favourite pub and ate a load of tasty food but we also went to see the place where Pete and I are planning to get married and it's just as perfect as I remember from our last trip.
Once the others had left and gone home we spent the remainder of the week looking for possible venues for our wedding reception, we've decided to have the ceremony at Manobier Castle which is just outside of Tenby so we need somewhere for the evening and we actually found three places we really liked so now we've just got to try and find out which is going to be the best for us.

I did plan on taking a bunch of outfit photos but in the end I only managed to snap this which is pretty representative of my go to summer wardrobe and I wanted to share with you this t-shirt that I'm absolutely in love with. It has a freakin unicorn on it!

T-shirt- Vintage
Necklace- Thrifted
Jeans- H&M

Lush Oxford Street- The Experimenter Bath Bomb

In case you missed my recent haul video (you can watch it here) I popped to Lush Oxford street a few weeks ago and came out with a huge array of pretty new products to try, it's taken me a few weeks to get around to using things but today I bring you the first of my many product reviews.
The first thing which I was dying to try was The Experimenter, by far the most colourful of Lush's new bath bombs, a hexagonal bomb with four different colours on the outside and a purple centre. Once popped in the bath this fizzed about for a good while making beautiful tie dye style swirls on the water and I can't lie I did just sit there in a kind of trance watching all the different patterns emerge. It also has a fair amount of popping candy in it but to be honest I'm not a massive fan of popping candy in my bath products, I just don't feel that it adds anything to my bathing experience.
Scent wise I did really like this out of the bath, it has Vetivert Oil as the main scent which creates an earthy smoky aroma that's supposed to soothe and relax, alongside this is Tonka Absolute and Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute which give it a creamy sweet edge.  I did find that once in the water I wasn't overly keen on the scent I don't think the two scents worked that well together, I probably would have preferred this without the sweet tones in it as they seemed to contrast the smokiness too much.
Once it's finished spinning around you're left with somewhat grey murky looking water with a touch of sparkle to it. I personally didn't mind the grey as I kind of expected it as that's what happens when you mix a bunch of colours together but I know some people have felt disappointed with the grey after all the colour that came out of the bomb.
Overall I'm glad I tried it as the colours were beautiful and it was lovely to watch but the scent just wasn't for me.
