Nails| The Beauty Bleu-Print

I used:
Barry M Gelly in Blue Grape
All That Jazz Nail Polish in Jennifer's The Beauty Bleu-Print*
Models Own Hypergel Topcoat

I haven't posted a nail look for absolutely ages mostly because I haven't found the time to paint my nails in quite a while but I had a whole weekend off so I decided to finally give my nails a bit of attention. I'd never heard of the brand All That Jazz but I went an event back in July for Catalyst PR's A/W preview and was kindly offered a few nail varnishes to try. When it comes to nail varnishes I love anything glittery and I especially love shades of blue so this shade is so perfect for me, it's actually quite a sheer blue with loads of microglitter and bigger holographic sparkles. I applied it over one of my favourite shades Blue Grape to make the glitter stand out and I love the overall look, I especially love the fact it goes with my engagement ring which has a sapphire and lots of little diamonds.
I really want to start painting my nails more regularly again and with Halloween coming up I'm hoping to find time to some halloween inspired nail art.

Lush Oxford Street- Grass Bubble Bar

Lush Oxford Street- Grass Bubble Bar Review

This rather unassuming little bubble bar was something I only picked up on my third visit to Lush's Oxford Street store and this is something I now really regret, for those of you who have been Lush obsessed for years you may remember the recently discontinued Grass Shower Gel. Well this is basically the exact same scent in a rather cute little bubble bar, I'm not sure what made me hold off buying it as I have used the Grass shower gel before and absolutely loved it.
In case you're wondering this smells exactly as you'd expect, like a freshly mown lawn, with Bergamot oil, Neroli oil and Sandalwood oil which combine to make a fresh, natural sort of earthy scent with a sweetness to it that's perfect for those of us already missing the summer.
I got two baths out of this bar but it could have probably stretched to three as it's quite a strong scent and as you can see it made my bath rather green, the bubbles lasted well and I found the scent to be super relaxing.
This has been available in the Lush Kitchen for the past week (it's still on there now) so I made a little order and got myself another bar which I'll be holding onto for a while to just to enjoy the scent, I really hope they make this available in all their stores as it's definitely a new favourite for me along with the delightful Milky Bath bubble bar.

My Little Fashion Box

Another month and another fantastic My Little Box, every month they somehow manage to top the last box and leave me feeling thoroughly impressed, I've been subscribed to numerous beauty and lifestyle boxes and every one has left me feeling disappointed at some point and wanting to cancel my subscription but with MLB I always feel like they're worth the money. This month unsurprisingly they've gone for a fashion theme to coincide with Fashion Week and the contents felt extra luxurious and autumnal.

First up we have this delightful scarf from American Vintage, I love the print it looks like tiny little leaves which is very appropriate for Autumn and it's super soft.

Next up which is slightly random is this rather generous mini bottle of Cointreau which is such an autumnal drink to me, at first I thought this was a strange choice but I suppose the majority of MLB's subscribers are women over 20 and there's nothing I like more on an autumn evening than sitting in front of the fire with something nice to drink and a good book.

The Beauty Bits:

Alfa.K Nail Decals
These are so cute and were a nice little bonus I can't wait to try these out but I think I'll save these for the winter and maybe team them with a nice silver nail polish.

Kerastase Spray á Porter
This may be my favourite haircare product of all time and I was literally days away from repurchasing it as I've nearly run out so when I saw this in my box I was really happy and this is a really generous sample sized bottle. I spray this over freshly washed towel dry hair and then let my hair air dry which results in wavy beachy looking hair without having to use drying products like salt spray.

My Little Box Liquid Lipstick
As usual there was a product from MLB's own beauty range and this month saw a very winter appropriate red liquid lipstick which should be perfect for any festive parties or bonfires I might attend.

La Roche Posay Hydreane BB Creme
I was so happy to see a full size La Roche Posay product in the September box and I'm really looking forward to trying this BB Creme although I'm a bit worried it might be too hydrating for my combination skin but the shade looks pretty close to my skintone which is a plus.

You can sign up to My Little Box here for £14.95 per month.

Lush- Pumice Power Foot Soap

Lush- Pumice Power Foot Soap Review

Now this may not be the most exciting of Lush's new products but for anyone who spends their working hours on their feet like me this little foot soap was a welcome addition to Lush's vast range of bodycare products. I really neglect my feet which is terrible as I work in retail and spend all day standing up resulting in many a painful blister so when I saw the Pumice Power foot soap I immediately popped it in my basket.
This smells so good it has rapeseed oil, coconut oil and sweet orange oil which gives off the most delightful orangey scent which is really uplifting and fresh. The shape is perfect for your feet as it fits into the palm of your hand and after a few uses I found that a little groove developed in the base of the bar where I'd been using it to scrub my heels which makes it even easier to use on the contours of your feet. I think this is the perfect balance between exfoliating and nourishing which leaves my feet feeling really soft and cared for, my feet feel so much better and I've found they're slightly less painful after a long day on the shopfloor which has been a godsend. I will definitely be repurchasing this, I've really neglected my feet over the past few years and having a product I can use in the bath or shower has really made me more conscientious of looking after them as there's nothing I love more than a good soak in the tub so it's been super easy to add this into my daily routine. I have previously used Lush's Stepping Stone foot scrub which was a similar product to this but when using it became quite mushy and dissolved really quickly whereas this has a more solid soap like formula which is so much better value for money as well as being easier to use.  I definitely feel like this is a bargain at £3.10 as I've been using my bar fairly regularly for the past month and it's still going strong.

Lush Oxford Street- Prince Of Darkness Face Mask

Prince Of Darkness- £6.50 or free with 5 clean empty black pots

A face mask inspired by Ozzy Osbourne obviously I couldn't resist this little beauty, Lush have released five new face masks at their Oxford Street store and this was the one I was most excited about. Unfortunately on my first trip to the store they had completely sold out of Prince Of Darkness and I was only able to pick up this tiny sample but I bought myself a full sized pot when I visited the store the second time but I stupidly forgot to take a photo of it and have just finished the tub hence the little sample pot pictured here.
Prince Of Darkness is an exfoliating face mask filled with kaolin, fullers earth, powdered charcoal, patchouli oil, lavender oil and sea salt to thoroughly scrub the skin whilst also deeply nourishing it which is exactly what my skin needs. The scent is sort of similar to the Dark Angels Cleanser and it's not a scent that will appeal to all but I personally really like it, which is probably because it has patchouli oil in it which gives it a lovely heady edge. In terms of using this mask it is fairly messy and it doesn't dry on your face so you have to be quite careful not to get it onto your clothes or towels, when you wash it off you really get the exfoliating effects as it has a very gritty texture which drags away any surface dirt from your skin whilst the fullers earth soaks up any excess oil on the skin. I find that despite all the really exfoliating ingredients in this it isn't overly harsh on my skin and actually leaves it feeling really soft and looking much brighter and refreshed. I wish Lush would make this available in all their stores as it's ideal for my skin but until they do I'll be sticking with their Cupcake mask instead.

Birchbox August 2015- Happy Birchday!

Birchbox August 2015 5 year anniversary box
Birchbox August 2015 Contents of Birchbox's 5 year anniversary box
This months Birchbox marked their 5th anniversary hence the super cute birthday themed box and I think my expectations were a little higher than usual, I expected them to go all out and I although I liked the items I got in my box I feel like the sample sizes were especially small this month. The two makeup products were especially small samples and I was kind of disappointed when I realised just how little there was in each of the tubes which is why I took the photo below to show you. I do sort of expect Benefit samples to be small as they're quite pricey and with products like this blotting stick you don't need to use loads at a time but the lip/cheek pen seems a little stingy considering the size of the tube and I kind of feel like it's a bit misleading. But anyway enough moaning lets get back to talking about the contents of my September box.

Lifestyle extra- Birchbox Birchbrush
Lifestyle extra- Birchbox Birchbrush
This is pretty much a smaller dupe of the Tangle Teezer which I already own but I guess this could be useful for keeping at Pete's and it's always good to have a spare.

Beauty Protector Beauty Wash Body Cleanser
Beauty Protector Beauty Wash Body Cleanser
I'll be honest I've tried Beauty Protector products before and quite enjoyed using them so I was initially quite happy to see this until I realised it's a shower gel and not a hair product so it kind of fell a little flat especially as I'm currently obsessed with my Lord Of Misrule shower cream from Lush so this will probably be saved for a weekend away.

John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler
John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler
The first product in my box which I know I'll love, I've never tried John Masters products before but I absolutely love the scent of Neroli and I'm constantly waging war on my thick tangled mane so hopefully this should be a winner for me.

Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
This sounds ideal for my skin as it claims to degrease pores and prevent blemishes but it also sounds quite harsh and as the weather has gotten colder this month I'm a little worried this might dry my skin out too much but I'll give it a go.

Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil in Cray-Cray
Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil in Cray-Cray
I've tried a couple of Laqa & Co's lip pencil in previous boxes and quite liked them but this just isn't me I'm afraid, I also feel like this is a really summery shade that would have perhaps been welcome in my June or July box rather than September.

Benefit The POREfessional: License To Blot
Benefit The POREfessional: License To Blot
This was the other product in this months box which I was really excited to try, I was really tempted to buy this when it was released as I adore the POREfessional Primer but having also tried the POREfessional: agent zero shine powder which was really disappointing I refrained from shelling out £15.50 on it. I'm looking forward to trying it out properly but after giving it a quick test I don't feel like this will be anything to write home about.

You can sign up to Birchbox here for £10 per month +p&p.

OOTD: I love ASOS

Sammy Scribble ASOS outfit ootd
Sammy Scribble ASOS outfit ootd

I wore:
Dress- ASOS
Boots- ASOS
Necklace- ASOS

First off let me apologise, these are not the best photos I've ever taken but the lighting in our hotel was really not agreeing with my camera but I just had to share this dress with you as I absolutely love it. I think I'm going to be wearing this dress to death over A/W, it's super comfy and goes great with black tights so I can throw it on with my 200 deniers and still feel dressed up. They have this dress in plain black and a white version with a red floral pattern and I think I may have to order them both, I think I've developed a bit of a bell sleeve obsession I think they're super flattering and a nice way to liven up my usual winter wardrobe of black chunky jumpers.
I didn't set out to wear an outfit completely from ASOS but they've been my absolute favourite place to shop recently and since signing up to ASOS Premier I've been taking full of advantage of their next day delivery and I've added lots of lovely new bits to my A/W wardrobe.
I teamed my dress with my favourite boots which I bought from ASOS about two years ago and this new necklace which I've been wearing all the time I feel it adds a witchy vibe to the otherwise girly dress and I've been wearing it with everything.

Lush: Skydancer Far From The Madding Guns

Lush: Skydancer Far From The Madding Guns, product review, bath bomb

Lush, Skydancer Far From The Madding Guns, bath bomb, product review
Lush: Skydancer Far From The Madding Guns

From time to time Lush like to release limited edition products to raise funds for causes they truly believe in and being a huge Lushie nothing makes me happier than trying new products but knowing the money is going to a worthy cause just makes these products a little bit more special.
This huge yellow bomb has been released to raise money and awareness for the dwindling numbers of Hen Harriers, the profits from each bomb sold will go towards funding equipment to satellite tag Hen Harrier chicks over the next few years with a view to avoid their extinction from Britain.
Now when it comes to Lush's charity products I will buy them regardless of the smell or design, so when I gave this a sniff in store and found that it smells overwhelmingly of aniseed I was a little put off but I bought it none the less and boy am I glad I did.
I popped it in the bath hoping the aniseed scent wouldn't be too overwhelming and was surprised to find that once it started fizzing away other scents were released, this bomb is packed with Bergamot oil, Cinnamon  Leaf oil and Sicilian Lemon Oil this actually had a bright citrusy scent that went beautifully with the aniseed tone to create a scent that feels perfect for the start of Autumn. I really enjoyed using this bomb and loved the scent so much I wish they would do this in a permanent product, I'm very tempted to buy another before they go, at £3.95 they're a little pricey but it's hard to grumble about the price when the money's going to charity.

Book Blogger Tag

Book Blogger Tag on Sammy Scribble

Something a bit different today on the blog but I'm currently doing a 50 books in a year reading challenge on Goodreads so I decided to do this Book Blogger Tag and if you're on Goodreads too feel free to add me because I'm nosey and I love to see what people are reading.

Which book most recently did you not finish?
A Place Called Here by Cecelia Ahern I really tried to like it but I just didn't I'm really not a fan of this type of book, it takes a lot for me to give up on a book but I found this unreadable.

Which book is your guilty pleasure?
I read Skins the novel which was basically a little book about what happened to the characters of Skins between seasons 3 and 4, it was pretty terribly written but I enjoyed it and it was no where near as bad a seasons 5 and 6.

Which book do you love to hate?
Twilight.

Which book would you throw into the sea?
Fifty Shades Of Grey, the characters are infuriating and pathetic and the writing is atrocious.

Which book have you read the most?
I tend to reread the Harry Potter books quite often.

Which book would you hate to receive as a present?
Anything by Dean Koontz, I had a big fad on him as a teenager and all his books are so similar I don't think I could read another.

Which book could you not live without?
I couldn't pick just one so; all of the Harry Potter Books, Valley Of The Dolls, All The Bright Places, Virgin Suicides, We Need To Talk About Kevin, American Psycho and loads more

Which book made you the angriest?
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn because I hated the end.

Which book made you cry the most?
When God Was A Rabbit, All The Bright Places, The Snow Child and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

Which book cover do you hate the most?
There aren't any in particular that I hate but when I'm looking in book shops I'll overlook anything that looks like chick lit so if it's pink and covered with handbags, shoes or terribly drawn couples kissing I'm not buying it.

Lush Oxford Street- Shark Infested Custard Luxury Bath Oil

Lush Oxford Street- Shark Infested Custard Luxury Bath Oil review
Shark Infested Custard Luxury Bath Oil- £2

Lush Oxford Street- Shark Infested Custard Luxury Bath Oil Melting in bath
Lush Oxford Street Shark Infested Custard Luxury Bath Oil in bath

Now if you're a regular reader of my blog you may have seen my two Lush Oxford Street haul videos and if so you'll know that I have mixed feelings about Lush's new luxury bath oils. On the one hand some of the scents are absolutely incredible but the idea of sticking a ball of solid oils in my tub just doesn't appeal to me, having used and disliked Lush's Butterball bath bomb I have tended to steer well clear of Lush's oiler products as I can't stand getting out of the bath with greasy oily skin and it's a nightmare to clean out of the bath. With that said there were a few of the bath oils which I knew I had to try and the one I was most excited about was this little cutie, Shark Infested Custard is a little yellow ball with a 'sharks fin' sticking out the top of it and I was expecting this to smell creamy and delicious.
Well unfortunately this little bath oil fell a little flat for me, the scent wasn't particularly strong when I smelled it in store but I hoped it would become a bit more pronounced once the oil was in the water. Shark Infested Custard is packed with shea butter, cocoa butter, extra virgin coconut oil and jojoba oil which somehow combine to create a sweet vanillary scent, I do really like the scent but I found that once all the oil had dispersed it was a bit underwhelming and not as strong a scent as I've come to expect from Lush. I feel that to get the best from the scent you would need to either combine this with a similarly scented bath bomb or pop two bath oils into your bath and as they cost £2 each I would prefer to just use a bath bomb. In terms of the oiliness of this product I much preferred this to I Am A Radiant Being which I reviewed here last week, it softened and moisturised my skin without leaving it feeling greasy and it didn't cling to the sides of the tub which I was relieved about, but because of the underwhelming scent this isn't something I'd repurchase.

OOTD: Summertime Blues

I Wore:
Top- Boohoo
Jeans- H&M
Sandals- New Look
Sunglasses- Topshop
Necklace- And Mary at ASOS

Well as you can probably tell I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago on one of the last hot days of the summer and I've finally got around to posting them. I bought this tie dye cami top after seeing Zoe London wearing the playsuit version which looked amazing on her but as I can't really pull off the whole playsuit thing I decided to have a look on the Boohoo website and see if they had the same design in a top which they did. They also had a dress and shorts with the same blue and purple tie dye design but I ended up just buying the top, I love the fact it has a little cut out bit on the back with little coins dangling down, it just feels so summery and girly. I actually just bought another of these tops in black and tan tie dye for £5 in the sale, I probably won't get a chance to wear it this year as Autumn seems to have well and truly set in but for £5 I had to get it.
I teamed it with my black skinny jeans and these cute jeweled sandals that I've worn most of the summer as they're super comfy, as well as the bunny necklace I got from ASOS which I love.

Lush Oxford Street- I Am A Radiant Being Bath Oil

Lush Oxford Street- I Am A Radiant Being Bath Oil Review

Lush Oxford Street- I Am A Radiant Being Bath Oil Review

Lush Oxford Street- I Am A Radiant Being Bath Oil Review

Lush Oxford Street- I Am A Radiant Being Bath Oil Review

I've used a few of Lush's new bath oils but this is the first one I've gotten around to reviewing, I wasn't entirely sold on the idea of these solid bath oils as I'm not overly keen on Lush's more oily products like Butterball but having given them all a good sniff in store there were a few that smelt so good I knew I had to try them.
I Am A Radiant Being smells absolutely gorgeous with Sicilian lemon oil, geranium oil, rose oil and Jojoba oil, it smells really similar to their Rose Jam scent which is incredibly popular with Lush fans everywhere. The delicious scent combined with the adorable design was enough to make me pick one up on my first trip to Lush Oxford Street but when I got around to using it I found that it really isn't my kind of bath product.
I was kind of hoping that this one wouldn't be as oily as the others as it felt more solid than the others in the store but this one actually has two layers, a hard outer layer and a ball of softer oils in the center. Once placed in the tub this started to melt and leave pools of pink butter floating across the surface of the water and once the outer shell had melted away the little ball in the middle floated around for absolutely ages. It turned the water a pretty pale pink with a slight silver shimmer to it and the beautiful scent was impressively strong considering how small the bath oils are but it was just way too oily for me and upon exiting the tub I was left with a slimy greasy coating to my skin that took ages to sink in even after I dried myself off.
So although this smells incredible it isn't something I would buy again as I found that it was much too oily for me but if you're a big fan of Butterball and Rose Jam then this is sure to be a winner for you.
